The Battlefield RedSec battle royale has launched to "Mostly Negative" Steam reviews amid review-bombing from players. Battlefield RedSec's community has been very quick to voice its concerns about the new battle royale to developer Battlefield Studios, although the problems can't be defined by one particular issue.
When rumors first began that Battlefield 6 was to feature a battle royale, the hype was massive. Battlefield has always felt like a perfect franchise for a great battle royale, given its inherent focus on large-scale combat. And in a world where even Call of Duty developers admit Warzone is feeling a little stale at this point, it felt as though Battlefield RedSec might be launching at the perfect time to capitalize.
Battlefield 6's Pro Battle Pass Gives Players a Massive Portal Benefit and More
Battlefield 6's Season 1 update arrives with its first Pro Battle Pass, which offers players a wide range of benefits, including a big one in Portal.
Battlefield RedSec Has 'Mostly Negative' Steam Reviews
The initial response to Battlefield RedSec on Steam has been brutal, facing "Mostly Negative" reviews from players. At the time of writing, just 35% of player reviews are positive, indicating that players aren't at all impressed with Battlefield 6's new battle royale. Looking at the reviews, there's no one reason for Battlefield RedSec's overwhelming review-bombing, either.
Players have cited numerous issues, including Battlefield RedSec's lack of a Solos game mode, which can lead to most gamers playing with full pre-made squads in extremely difficult matches. Battlefield Studios has also integrated the weekly Battlefield 6 challenges into RedSec, which has caused much frustration for gamers who only want to play one or the other. Some described Battlefield RedSec as a "CoD clone," which is the exact thing many were hoping to avoid in the new battle royale.
While launching to such a negative reception is far from the ideal scenario for Battlefield RedSec, it's still very early days for the game. No doubt, throughout Battlefield 6 Season 1, RedSec will go through its own series of changes and updates according to player feedback. Hopefully, Battlefield Studios can appropiately address the community's biggest problems with Battlefield RedSec in the coming weeks and months.
