Battlefield 6 footage featuring New Sobek City has surfaced online. The leak offers the clearest look at the upcoming Battlefield 6 map yet, showcasing what its moment-to-moment gameplay will look like.

Battlefield 6 color filters could be problematic

New Sobek City is one of the nine Battlefield 6 maps that will be available at launch. It was not featured in the first two open betas, which were limited to Iberian Offensive, Liberation Peak, Siege of Cairo, and Empire State.

Battlefield 6 New Sobek City Gameplay Appears on YouTube

Some New Sobek City footage emerged on September 6, surfacing on the channel of YouTuber ErsinFPS. The 13-minute video depicts an infantry battalion advance supported by some heavy vehicles in what appears to be a Breakthrough setting. Breakthrough is a Battlefield 6 mode that was already present in the latest three mainline installments in the franchise, featuring larger maps and two teams of 30+ players assigned to one of two roles: attackers or defenders.

Breakthrough maps have historically varied between medium-sized and large environments. In the case of New Sobek City, the map will seemingly be on the smaller end of what was typically seen in this mode. That said, the newly leaked footage suggests that the level will be wider than the Liberation Peak map that was playable during the Battlefield 6 open beta. As with other Breakthrough maps, New Sobek City will emphasize urban warfare, with vehicles playing a supporting role and the overall flow of action being somewhat linear.

Battlefield 6 has a sliding problem

EA has previously described New Sobek City as a construction zone battlefield on the outskirts of Cairo, flanked by sizable sand dunes. The newly leaked footage aligns with this description, showing a dusty construction district with several work sites and plazas, suggesting multiple potential avenues of approach for both armor and infantry. Another takeaway from the video is that vehicles show visible, location-specific damage when hit, including flapping doors and loose panels following an RPG strike. While fans have been asking to see this feature return for a while now, the full extent of the Battlefield 6 destruction system cannot be deduced from this clip alone.

The leaked footage appears to have been captured on a local server utilizing bots. Assuming the video is representative of the final product, New Sobek City will act as a combined-arms playground, offering enough cover for infantry to advance, but with broad avenues for tanks and overhead room for helicopters. Exactly how big will the arid map be relative to the other eight levels available at launch is to be determined. Battlefield 6 launches October 10 for PC and the current-generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
