Battlefield 6 fans eager to jump back into the shooter following its massive open beta period will be pleased to know that Battlefield Labs is officially returning on August 29 for a brief playtest. Those who are lucky enough to be part of Battlefield Labs will have a small window to once again playtest Battlefield 6 before its highly anticipated release on October 10, developer DICE has confirmed.

Battlefield 6 Campaign Wishlist

Before fans were given the opportunity to go hands-on with Battlefield 6 during its two open beta weekends this month, EA gave a small selection of players the chance to playtest the next Battlefield game via a new initiative known as Battlefield Labs. The program is invitation-only, but fans from all around the world can sign up to take part, as long as they've got an EA account. Those who are lucky enough to gain access will be required to sign an NDA if they wish to participate, as they will be testing features for the next entry in the series and providing valuable feedback to developers.

Battlefield Labs Confirms Return Date

Those who have been patiently waiting to try out more Battlefield 6 will be pleased to know that DICE has now announced a new Battlefield Labs playtest for Friday, August 29, at 7PM - 9 PM CEST, for those based in Europe, and 4PM - 6PM PDT, for those in North America. The playtest can be accessed on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but is invitation-only, which means only a handful of lucky gamers will be selected to participate. For anyone looking to jump in, they'll need to visit the official Battlefield Labs website and sign up.

The next Battlefield Labs playtest is likely to be incredibly sought after, as EA and DICE found massive success in its open beta weekends for Battlefield 6. According to the publisher, the open beta was the most successful in the history of the Battlefield franchise, with more than 420 million matches played and 92 million hours of gameplay. While there is unlikely to be any additional beta weekends ahead of the game's launch later this year, Labs testers will have the chance to go hands-on again this week, possibly with a newer build of the game with some additional content.

This will also mark the first time in four years that Battlefield will go head-to-head with Call of Duty. While Activision's popular shooter releases annually, EA hasn't published a new Battlefield game since the disastrous launch of Battlefield 2042 in 2021. Thankfully, it appears that the studio is already rectifying its mistakes with Battlefield 6, as the first open beta weekend has already surpassed Call of Duty in a big way. On August 9, the Battlefield 6 open beta peaked at more than 521,000 concurrent players on Steam, surpassing Call of Duty's record of 491,000, which it achieved nearly three years ago.
