A new Battlefield 6 leak has showcased the return of mud and dirt buildup on weapons, a feature that was not present during the game's recent beta. The footage from a recent Battlefield Labs build shows off the commitment to realism in the upcoming Battlefield 6.
The Battlefield games have always been at their best when they embrace a realistic approach, offering an immersive experience unlike anything else on the market. To do this, it's the little details that matter the most. The recent Battlefield 6 beta showed off plenty of game-changing details in this regard, but there was still some room for improvement. However, Battlefield Studios has been using the time following the game's beta to improve on these small details, ensuring Battlefield 6 is among the series' best efforts to date.
Why Battlefield 6 Doesn't Have Ray Tracing
Battlefield 6 dev reveals why the game doesn’t support ray-tracing, which has become an increasingly common feature in AAA games.
Battlefield 6 Will Feature Mud and Dirt Buildup on Weapons
A recent clip from Battlefield Labs was posted to Reddit by user Ter-Lee-Comedy, showing off gameplay for a recent build of the game. Notably, the footage displays mud and dirt buildup on their Battlefield 6 weapon as they move around the map. This makes the game feel much more immersive, as it doesn't feel as though the gun will remain squeaky clean regardless of what is actually happening on screen.
It was pointed out in the thread that this feature was also present in Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5, although it wasn't in the negatively received Battlefield 2042. While it's only a minor detail, it's one that adds up to a broader sense of immersion, so its apparent return is certainly welcome. It's worth noting that because Battlefield Labs doesn't represent the final build, it's always possible that this weapon dirt buildup feature could change before release.
Prior to its launch, there have been numerous Battlefield 6 leaks thanks to the existence of Battlefield Labs. It's a double-edged sword for Battlefield Studios. While it's an excellent test environment for the developer and a great way to gather feedback in time for the full release, there will always be leaks as a result. It's likely that between now and Battlefield 6's October 10 release date, there will be even more leaks showing what the game has to offer.
