During the Battlefield 6 Multiplayer Livestream Event, fans were treated to a brief single-player campaign teaser, which included part of the dialogue quoting one of the coldest lines from Game of Thrones. HBO’s eight-season adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series remains one of the most popular and engaging fantasy shows to grace the small screen, but the last place Game of Thrones fans expected to hear a quote pull was in a Battlefield 6 trailer.
Developed by Battlefield Studios and published by Electronic Arts, Battlefield 6 is the 18th entry in the Battlefield series, following Battlefield 2042, and it’s scheduled for launch on October 10, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles. Battlefield 6’s multiplayer beta start dates and times have been revealed recently, and the sessions are expected to run throughout August, offering an early access period followed by two weekends of beta testing.

Battlefield 6, while impressive, is to some EA fans a disappointing reminder that there is, in fact, no Star Wars Battlefront 3 on the horizon.
Posted on social media, the official Battlefield account shared a 30-second teaser trailer promoting Battlefield 6’s single-player campaign. The feature shows a woman talking about the loss of alliances within a crumbling world, before ending the dialogue with, “Chaos is a ladder.” To the uninitiated, this might seem like a cool line that prompts further pondering, but it’s actually one of the best and most iconic quotes from Game of Thrones. It should be noted that while the quote doesn't appear in Martin's book, the show's original line is chilling.

During season 3, episode 6, titled “The Climb,” Aidan Gillen’s Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish takes a sinister turn while having one of his playful conversations with Conleth Hill’s Varys. Littlefinger’s quote hides a deeper meaning behind its short delivery, framing the realm as a lie and correcting Varys’ thought of chaos being a pit, saying, “Chaos isn't a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try it again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb. They refuse. They cling to the realm or the gods or love. Illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.”
The livestream event put plenty of expectations on the shoulders of Battlefield 6’s multiplayer, with a few notable highlights. There’s going to be a bigger emphasis on destruction with obstacles reacting to players, Rush mode is confirmed to be returning to this entry and noted for being a franchise favorite, and Battlefield 2042’s Portal will be a part of Battlefield 6, allowing players to get creative with level editing.
