Battlefield 6 fans are lamenting the removal of several popular features from the newest entry in the shooter franchise, asking EA and DICE to bring back multiple past mechanics. The newly-released sixth numbered entry in the series has seen monumental success within just over a week after its release, already amassing millions of players across multiple platforms. Battlefield 6 saw a peak of over 700,000 players on the Steam version alone on its launch day and reportedly earned more than $100 million in just a day. However, reception has not been all rosy to the new game.
Despite Battlefield 6's overwhelming success, the new shooter has not been completely without issues from the outset. Battlefield 6's Season 1 roadmap saw some controversy from hardcore fans of the franchise, complaining about missing staples from past games and an inclination towards "Call of Duty-like" game modes. Battlefield 6's expansive anti-cheat system has also not been entirely foolproof, with some fans still reporting aimbots and cheaters in the new game. Now, fans are asking EA and DICE to bring back multiple beloved features.
Battlefield 6 SOVIS Filter is Like a Cheat Code for Players
The SOVIS filter in Battlefield 6 seems helpful for players who struggle with the game's visibility, though not everyone agrees.
A post shared to the Battlefield subreddit from Reddit user Rainy55 is requesting that Battlefield 6 bring back multiple mechanics from past games. The post highlights different in-game mechanics like automatic bollards for combating Battlefield 6's vehicles, previously featured in Battlefield 4, and working elevators inside Battlefield 6's buildings. Dynamic weather was also a major request, feeling that weather could make a significant impact on battles, alongside the addition of subways or underground passages. The user references Battlefield 4 multiple times, with many requested features previously appearing in the fourth game.
Battlefield 6 Fans Want Old Franchise Staples Back
The post's replies saw many fans echoing the complaints about various elements of Battlefield 6 not returning many past features. The inclusion of weather was one of the most commonly requested features, with dynamic weather already being featured to great effect in previous Battlefield games. The size of Battlefield 6's maps was a point of contention for some players as well, seeing longtime fans of the franchise asking for larger in-game maps more reminiscent of previous Battlefield games. The exclusion of underground areas was also cited as an oddity for the two in-game maps based on New York City, given the city's extensive subway system.
Battlefield 6's early complaints from longtime fans show no signs of slowing down the game's strong momentum. Battlefield 6 has already pushed numerous improvements following the game's launch, regularly rolling out bug fixes and quality-of-life updates over the nine days since its launch. EA and DICE have also teased a plethora of content on the way, with the previously-mentioned Season 1 bringing multiple new maps and game modes. Battlefield 6 fans can only hope EA listens to their feedback and implements some of the most highly-requested features.
