Battlefield 6 players have been left surprised after noticing that the game has a compass feature that is disabled by default. What seemed like a fairly basic shooter for a game like Battlefield 6 actually has to be enabled from the in-game settings during the open beta.

The Battlefield 6 open beta is available right now at the time of writing, with a second period set to take place between August 14 and 17. Now is the time for Battlefield Studios to gather important feedback about the title in its current state, before development enters the final stretch for its October 10 release date. So far, fans have shared their thoughts on just about everything, from recoil to map size, allowing Battlefield Studios to fine-tune the title in small but important ways. There are even some Battlefield 6 fans asking for bigger changes such as weather effects, although this may be too tall an ask in such a short timeframe.

Battlefield 6 beta players take issue with the sliding mechanic, feeling it's too Call of Duty-like and requires some adjustments.

Battlefield 6 Has a Compass Feature, But It's Disabled by Default

As noticed by Redditor Phrecki, Battlefield 6 has an in-game compass feature that is disabled by default. Other players in the thread were very surprised by the discovery, and some pointed out that callouts from soldiers in-game will often use cardinal directions (north, east, south, and west) to give an indication of where enemies have been spotted. But without a visible compass, these directions are pretty much pointless, with players instead left to stare around the Battlefield 6 maps aimlessly unless they've happened to notice the compass in the in-game settings.

Similar threads on the EA forums can be found lamenting the supposed lack of a compass in Battlefield 6's open beta, so it's clearly an issue that players are finding this difficult to find, especially when the benefits of having it enabled are so obvious. To enable the compass, gamers need to head to the Settings menu, and find the Interface and HUD section in the Graphics menu. From there, players need to enter the Advanced HUD settings, where they'll be able to find the compass and enable it. Given how easy this is to miss, hopefully this is enabled by default when the full game launches.

Despite only being in open beta, Battlefield 6 is already breaking series records. The game already has the highest concurrent player count on Steam of any Battlefield game, although it's worth pointing out that the open beta is completely free to play. Regardless, it's still an impressive feat, also surpassing the peak player count of any Call of Duty game on Steam. Nothing is guaranteed, of course, but it certainly seems as though Battlefield 6 is primed for success.
