September 26 is suddenly a big day for Battlefield 6 fans, as publisher EA has confirmed its presence at Tokyo Game Show 2025, where it will also be giving fans a more in-depth preview of the shooter's single-player campaign. The launch of Battlefield 6 is just a few short weeks away, and while fans have already had the chance to go hands-on with the game's multiplayer via various open beta weekends, they have yet to be given a closer look at its campaign. But that's finally about to change.
The Battlefield series has been absent for four years now, and the last instalment in the series left a sour taste in players' mouths due to the large number of bugs, removal of traditional features, lackluster content at launch, and more. However, EA and DICE are back to right their wrongs with Battlefield 6, as the newest entry is already breaking records. Last month, the two studios gave fans the chance to check out Battlefield 6 via numerous open beta weekends. These playtests proved to be massively successful, as the shooter not only received tons of praise but also became the biggest beta in Battlefield history.
Battlefield 6 Puts the 'Duty' in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 7 have taken completely opposite approaches to marketing that leaves both titles in fascinating positions.
Battlefield 6 Campaign Will Be Shown at Tokyo Game Show
But many fans have also been eager to see what DICE has in store for Battlefield 6's campaign, and very little has been shown outside of a few short teaser trailers. Thankfully, it looks like that's about to change, as publisher EA has now confirmed its presence at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2025. According to the Tokyo Game Show schedule (via Gematsu), EA is finally planning to show more of the game's campaign with a single-player live showcase. "The developers and English voice actors of Battlefield 6 introduce the upcoming first-person shooter, including a look at the single-player story mode. Featuring executive special producer Phillipe Ducharme and senior creative director Roman Campos-Oriola," the official description for the showcase reads.
As a single-player campaign was absent from Battlefield 2042, fans of the series can't wait to see it return in Battlefield 6. While a more in-depth look will be shown later this month, two of the lead developers for the shooter did go on record earlier this year to reveal which movies and TV shows inspired the Battlefield 6 campaign. According to Creative Director Roman Campos-Oriola, Lioness, an American spy thriller series featuring Morgan Freeman and Zoe Saldana, was one major influence. As for Senior Producer, Philippe Ducharme, Alex Garland's Civil War was also a big inspiration.
Prior to the game's reveal, it was speculated that Battlefield 6 may have followed in the footsteps of 2042 and once again excluded a single-player campaign. Thankfully, we now know that isn't the case, and with the shooter set to go head-to-head with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, it's going to need all the ammunition it's got if it wants to take out the biggest FPS of all-time. With that being said, Battlefield is already off to a flying start, as the Battlefield 6 open beta surpassed Call of Duty's all-time concurrent player count on Steam. But the real test will come in just a few weeks, as Battlefield 6 launches on October 10, followed by Black Ops 7 on November 14.
