Battlefield 2042 players can now unlock rewards from the 'Road to Battlefield 6' Battle Pass much quicker, as EA publishes a new update that allows players to pay for tier skips. The Battlefield 6-themed Battle Pass is completely free for all Battlefield 2042 owners, but the rate at which tiers are earned has caused a huge amount of controversy since its release last month. The addition of tier skips is now the second adjustment EA has made in an attempt to speed up progress for players.
While Battlefield 2042 was somewhat of a disaster for publisher EA and developer DICE when it launched in 2021, players are now flocking back to the shooter in anticipation of the launch of Battlefield 6 in October. As a way to entice the community back to Battlefield 2042, EA has released a brand-new Battle Pass filled with Battlefield 6 rewards. The pass was launched alongside a surprise Battlefield 2042 update in August, which coincided with the end of the Battlefield 6 open beta.
Reasons Why You Should Play Battlefield 6
On the fence about buying Battlefield 6? Here is a list of reasons why you should jump in and try it out for yourself when it launches in October.
Battlefield 2042 Update Adds Tier Skips for BF6 Battle Pass
In total, the new Battlefield 2042 Battle Pass includes 30 different rewards for Battlefield 6, but the rate at which tiers could be earned quickly became an issue for players. In response, EA made it much easier to progress through the pass by upping the frequency of Double and Triple XP weekends in Battlefield 2042. Now, in an attempt to make things even easier for players, the studio has revealed that a new update (which will launch later today) will allow players to pay to skip tiers in the Road to Battlefield 6 Pass.
The latest Battlefield 2042 update will bring the game to version 9.2.1 on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. While the patch notes reveal that the update is mainly for bug fixes, it also states that tier skip functionality is now active on the Road to Battlefield 6 Battle Pass. This is something that appears to have divided the community, with some calling it a "slap in the face" to those who have spent the last few weeks grinding the pass to earn the rewards legitimately. Others say EA should have enabled the feature "weeks ago."
With Battlefield 6 poised to be a big hit for EA and DICE this year, fans have been flocking back to the last entry in the series as they patiently wait for October 10. While the 2021 shooter was massively controversial at launch, it appears to be going through a big resurgence right now, as Battlefield 2042's player count recently surpassed Call of Duty's on Steam. The two series are gearing up to go head-to-head for the first time in four years, with Black Ops 7 launching on November 14, just five weeks after Battlefield 6. But with the hype surrounding the next Battlefield game at an all-time high, this could be a big year for EA and DICE.
