Battlefield 2042 is upping the frequency of Double and Triple XP weekends all the way until Battlefield 6, EA has announced. The move was prompted by a recent wave of player complaints, with its ultimate goal being to make the Battlefield 6 rewards in the game significantly easier to obtain.
The latest Battlefield 2042 update rolled out on August 18. Identified by version number 9.2.0, the mid-month release introduced numerous novelties, including a new battle pass meant to drum up hype for the upcoming launch of Battlefield 6 with half a dozen themed reward packs. While the battle pass is free, a vocal section of the fandom found it excessively grindy, which resulted in a consistent stream of social media complaints.
Battlefield 6 Fans May Want to Check Out BF 2042 Now That the Open Beta Is Over
EA gives Battlefield 6 fans eager for more of the shooter a great reason to jump back into the controversial 2021 entry, Battlefield 2042.
Battlefield 2042 Addressing Battlefield 6 Battle Pass Complaints More Bonus XP Events
Exactly 11 days after the 9.2.0 update went live, EA addressed these fan grievances in a lengthy social media post, acknowledging that some players may have missed the recent XP weekend or could miss upcoming ones. As a result, DICE is expanding the game's short-term roadmap with additional XP events to be held every weekend until Battlefield 6 launches. This will provide players with exactly half a dozen more opportunities to efficiently farm Battlefield 2042 XP before its successor arrives.
2 Triple XP Weekends Coming to Battlefield 2042 Just Ahead of B6 Launch
While the next several weekends will see Battlefield 2042 host Double XP events, the final two before Battlefield 6 hits the market will be of the Triple XP variety. EA pledged to keep monitoring community discussion regarding this move, as well as the game's telemetry data, both of which could inform additional adjustments over the following weeks.
Even if no more tweaks occur, the expanded event schedule that the publisher has now committed to already makes the process of earning Battlefield 6 skins and other rewards in Battlefield 2042 significantly easier. The move reads as pragmatic housekeeping ahead of the release of the much-anticipated sequel, a gesture of goodwill toward fans that helps maintain community excitement for the next entry.
