The grand mystery surrounding WB Games Montreal's in-development Batman game continues to grow. Fans have been anticipating the game's official announcement for months now. Yet each event, whether it be E3, The Game Awards, or otherwise, passes by without mention of the new Batman game. The latest evidence that an announcement should be forthcoming has been discovered. It's what could be the game's official logo. But given the game's past, it may just be more smoke with no fire.
The logo in question is sourced from Twitter user James Sigfield. Sigfield posted two images to Twitter which apparently were taken in WB Montreal's elevator. Within the elevator, along one side, is an unfamiliar Batman logo. It's still a Batman logo in every sense of the term. It's shaped like a bat with its wings out, like most every other Batman logo. It's just unique in its general shape. As such, many believe that this Batman logo is specific to the game or franchise that WB Montreal is working on.
The evidence of the logo being related to the new Batman game is worth acknowledging. Just having the logo in the WB Montreal studio should be enough. To cement its importance is a small WB logo at the corner of the Batman logo. This Batman logo is clearly deeply tied to something in the works at WB. Fans just don't know what it's tied to as of yet.
One further question is whether this Batman logo is just for WB Montreal's single Batman game or if it's for something bigger. There have been rumors that both WB Montreal and Rocksteady are working on a bigger DC universe, rebooting the Batman Arkham series into something new. The logo could imply this universe will be Batman focused, but it could also just be the Batman-focused part of the universe and Rocksteady could be working on something different.
The final question would be whether or not this logo's existence and that it's displayed in a somewhat public location implies an impending announcement. This question doesn't have an answer. Every time it seemed WB Montreal would be announcing its game soon in the past, it turned out to not be true.
The last update from WB Games Montreal came in the form of a teaser released on January 9. The teaser included an emblem that appeared to be the badge of the Gotham City Police Department. It was a small teaser, but definitely rebuilt excitement about a forthcoming announcement. Of course, no such announcement has yet been made. The long wait for news about WB Montreal's in-development Batman project continues.
