Baldur's Gate 3 is a massive game, and that makes it easy to get lost while hunting down quest objectives. In Act 3, your party arrives in Rivington with the titular city of Baldur's Gate in the distance. This is the game's final act, so you should expect the consequences of your earlier choices to come to a head while deciding the city's fate. It's up to you to forge alliances with your companions and various factions as you will need all the help you can get in the final battle. Astarion's former master, Cazador, has embedded himself in the city. Here is where you can find his Szarr palace and face the vampiric threat.

Applying these excellent coatings can often mean the difference between victory and defeat in Baldur's Gate 3.

The Pale Elf

A map showing the location of the Gur Camp

The Pale Elf is Astarion's companion quest. It begins when he first tries to bite you early on in Act 1 of Baldur's Gate 3. There is not much progress to be made in this quest until Act 3. Visit the Gur Camp on the eastern side of Rivington to learn the Palace is in Baldur's Gate.

The Gur are a guild of vampire hunters that you may have met outside the Hag's teahouse. They will not attack Astarion as they are desperate to rescue some of their own that have been kidnapped and stashed away in Szarr Palace. If Astarion is dead for any reason, you can still help the Gur to get them as allies in the endgame.

Ascend the Central Guard Tower

Speaking to the Gur will give you the Investigate the Szarr Palace objective and a waypoint situated to the north in the Lower City. You will have to go about getting a pass or somehow sneak across the Wyrm's Crossing bridge to finally enter Baldur's Gate. The city is rather large, and the waypoint is vague. You cannot approach the palace from the ground.

The map shows the Central Guard tower near the Lower City Central Wall fast travel

Head west past the Sorcerous Sundries magic store to find the Lower City Central Wall fast travel point at coordinates (X-50, Y-55.) Right next to this fast travel is the Central Guard Tower. You need to enter the guard tower and walk up the steps to get to the central wall. Follow it to the right.

Deal With the Thrall Guards

Open the door and ascend the ladder to find some thrall guards. You can convince them yourself to let you in, but they will easily back down if you speak to them as Astarion and say you are late for the ritual. He should be in your party anyway, as there is more dialogue about his past among the vampires ahead.

The front door of the palace opens for Astarion.

Continue past the upper tower and the ramparts to finally reach the front Szarr Palace door. It will unlock for Astarion. Be prepared to make some difficult choices concerning Astarion and take part in one of the more difficult fights in Baldur's Gate 3.
