A talented fan of Baldur's Gate 3 has just released a mod for the game called "Jurassic Gate," which adds a wide range of powerful dinosaurs that can be summoned to aid the player in combat. Dinosaurs are not completely new to Baldur's Gate 3, with druids in the base game gaining the ability to take on a dino form at level 10, but Jurassic Gate massively expands the prehistoric predators' presence in Faerûn.

The Jurassic Gate mod, posted to Nexus Mods by user Star-EMC2, allows players to summon powerful dinosaur allies to aid them in combat. As the name suggests, the mod was partly inspired by the iconic Jurassic Park franchise, making several references to the sci-fi classic in its mod page description, as well as the in-game item used to summon the dinosaurs. The summoning item can be purchased from vendors across the game, after which the player can call these prehistoric beasts to help them battle the most terrifying enemies in Baldur's Gate 3.

While a mod about summoning dinosaurs can hardly be considered a story-focused experience, the Jurassic Gate mod page does include a bit of in-universe backstory for its dinosaur companions. The vicious raptors players can summon were trained and raised by the Yuan-Ti, an elusive race of reptilian humanoids who inhabit some of the most ancient and mysterious locations in the Forgotten Realms. In addition to these iconic dinosaurs, the mod also includes prehistoric beasts like the sabertooth tiger, raised by a tribe of Wild Dwarves in the depths of an ancient forest.

As Baldur's Gate 3 mods go, Jurassic Gate is fairly simple: rather than changing any of the game's systems or massively expanding its content, this mod asks "wouldn't it be fun to see your enemies torn apart by dinosaurs?" And answers it with a resounding "yes." The mod's limited scope and technical simplicity means that it will be unlikely to clash with other mods, and probably won't require an update when the long awaited Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 5 releases in a few days.
