A new mod released for Baldur’s Gate 3 lets players summon an upgraded version of Bing Bong, the popular imp from the cast’s Dungeons & Dragons sessions. This Baldur’s Gate 3 mod further expands the world from this award-winning RPG and brings an additional ally for players to discover in their adventures across Faerun.
During a Dungeons & Dragons session hosted by High Rollers, the Baldur’s Gate 3 cast brought their characters to life with unexpected adventures and funny moments. One of the most memorable interactions was with an imp tasked to open the door of a shop, saying “bing bong” as he did so. Jennifer English, Shadowheart’s voice actor, immediately bonded with the imp and wanted to take him along. Devora Wilde, playing Lae’zel, didn’t agree and felt like the creature would be a burden to the group. Later in the session, Lae’zel ended up killing Bing Bong, but the imp made a memorable impression on fans who requested Larian Studios to add Bing Bong to Baldur’s Gate 3.
While Larian Studios only added Bing Bong to Baldur’s Gate 3 by name, some fans modded the imp in the game, which upgrades the creature with new skills, passives, and combat utility. This mod works as a standalone and provides various quality-of-life changes for those using the original Bing Bong Summon mod. Among the changes provided by this Better Bing Bong mod are a new level scaling system to make the imp get more health and abilities, as well as custom icons and visuals. To properly fit Bing Bong’s original story, the imp can now open doors as it did during the Baldur’s Gate 3 c ast Dungeons and Dragons session, or be set on fire, as that was the way Lae’zel ended up killing it.
Better Bing Bong Mod Brings Enhanced Gameplay Experience
On top of providing players with a beloved reference to one of the most popular moments in the cast's Dungeons and Dragons session, this mod also brings a useful summon for those wanting to expand their Baldur’s Gate 3 gameplay. Not only can the imp attack and open doors, but players can use him as a throwable object to set enemies on fire. The summon item to get the imp is available from vendors across all Baldur’s Gate 3 acts or from the tutorial chest. Bing Bong can be summoned once per short rest and persist through long rests.
Almost a year after its original release, Baldur’s Gate 3 is still wildly popular and regularly reaches 100,000 concurrent players on Steam. While Baldur’s Gate 3 has not received any DLC, Larian Studios regularly brings fresh content through updates, adding new cinematics, epilogues, and even a new difficulty with the Honor mode.
