Baldur's Gate 3 has released a small update on arguably its biggest night, fixing a few important bugs, glitches, crashes, and even a certain exploit regarding merchants. While Patch 5 for Baldur's Gate 3 added a proper epilogue to the game, Larian Studios also sought to address some of the game's technical shortcomings as well. For example, Baldur's Gate 3 at launch famously had frequent FPS drops during the massive overworld of Act 3, and Larian discovered a way to improve performance in time for Patch 5 while developing the game's Xbox port.

During The Game Awards 2023, Baldur's Gate 3 won Game of the Year, Best Performance (Neil Newbon as Astarion), Best Multiplayer Title, Best Roleplaying Game, Best Community Support, and the Players' Voice award – completing its "Baldur's Sweep". While no sequel or DLC has yet been announced by Larian Studios, 2024 is still set to be an important year for Baldur's Gate 3, as it will send out physical editions for all three platforms in early 2024 to anyone who purchased them.

Baldur's Gate 3 dominated The Game Awards 2023, with Larian leaving the showcase with many new awards to its pedigree.

Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox Version And Hotfix #13 Now Live

More importantly, Larian surprised the gaming community at The Game Awards 2023 by launching the Xbox version during the show itself. Not only is Baldur's Gate 3 available on the Xbox Store, but players can enjoy the benefits of all its patches as well, including the recent Hotfix #13. The latest update addresses a crash that could occur when leaving Act 2, and improves performance for the PS5 when resolving the Knights of the Shield encounter peacefully. However, it also removes a major exploit that players kept using on the many merchants found throughout the game.

More precisely, Baldur's Gate 3 players can no longer sell empty bags to vendors for the combined value of the items that were stored in them. Thankfully, Baldur's Gate 3 has many powerful weapons and armor for players to come across in the wild, and killing a vendor obviously still remains an option for the more violence-inclined characters as well.

With Patch 5 and the latest hotfix, as well as its Xbox launch, this is one of the best times to jump into Baldur's Gate 3 for a playthrough, whether to replay the game, or finally see what all the hype is about. While there is still a possibility that Larian will release a Definitive Edition for Baldur's Gate 3 in 2024, it still offers one of the most complete gaming experiences from start to finish.
