The first Baldur's Gate 3 Dungeons & Dragons miniatures have been announced and are scheduled to release in Quarter 1 of 2025. Developed by Wiz Kids, the miniatures consist of a set of seven featuring the Origin party members plus Withers and a mix of 40 additional party members, NPCs, and enemies; the latter 40 will be released via a series of blind boxes called "booster bricks." While the set includes some faces Baldur's Gate 3 players would expect, such as Jaheira, Minthara, Raphael, and goblin and githyanki soldiers, one particular inclusion in the set seems a deliberate nod to one of Baldur's Gate 3's most famous memes.

The Booster Brick Set Includes Friends, Enemies - And A Bear

The 40 miniatures in Wiz Kids' "Icons of the Realms: Adventures from Baldur's Gate" booster brick set include a mix of friends and enemies from the popular game. Party members Jaheira, Minthara, and Halsin appear alongside iconic NPCs like Dame Aylin and Wyll's father, Duke Ulder Ravengard. Many enemies encountered in the game are included, from ordinary goblin soldiers to the devil Raphael himself. All are fairly expected, with a handful of oddities like a generic hollyphant who does not seem to be Inspector Valeria, the game's sole hollyphant NPC.

And then there's the miniature simply called "Brown Bear," which has a size of Large and a rarity of Uncommon. While bears certainly exist in Baldur's Gate 3 - any druid can Wild Shape into one, and several relatively tame ones call the Emerald Grove their home - they're not exactly a common sight in Faerun compared to the likes of goblins and Bhaal cultists. It is likely that a bear miniature was included in the set as a reference to the infamous "bear sex" scene which remains one of Baldur's Gate 3's most memetic moments.

Collectors Can Now Bring "The Bear Scene" To Life In Mini Form

The infamous "bear scene" occurs should the player character agree to a romantic tryst with Halsin, a druid who can potentially join the party in Act 2. The bear is Halsin's preferred Wild Shape form, and he accidentally shifts out of excitement during the scene. Players are given the choice to ask Halsin to return to his elf form or have him stay as a bear; if he stays as a bear, the scene is so "shocking" that a nearby squirrel falls from a tree.

Developer Larian Studios was clearly aware of the scene's unique nature from the beginning. A brief work-safe clip from the scene, with Astarion in the player character's position, appeared in an early trailer for Baldur's Gate 3. The scene has since been referenced many times in reviews of the game, clip collections shown at awards shows, and social media posts by Larian. While Baldur's Gate 3's excellent reviews and many awards have definitely ensured it is not simply known as "the bear sex game," the scene is still consistently associated with it.

Both the Brown Bear mini and Halsin in his elf form are options fans could potentially get when purchasing a "booster brick." Those who obtain both would even be able to recreate the iconic "bear scene" during a Dungeons and Dragons campaign. However, because the boxes are random, this chance is unfortunately pretty low, so fans of the "bear scene" may need to spend a good amount of money to find what they need. But the release of these minis does confirm one thing: even now, a year and a half after the game's initial release, bear jokes are still here to stay.
