While playing Baldur's Gate 3, chances are that players will come across some pretty unexplainable and difficult to understand items. Whether players stumble upon the many different Soul Coins in the game or find the Adamantine Forge and aren't sure how to work it, there's a lot to discover. One item that can be found in the Gryforge area of Act 1 is the
Devilfoil Mask. These masks can be worn by anyone and offer the player a unique buff, only known as the Infernal Legion buff. Here's a breakdown of what this effect does.

What Is The Infernal Legion Effect In BG3?
Once players put on the Devilfoil Mask, they will notice that the Infernal Legion effect is now on their character. The mask's description in the game reads, "The mask's interior is lined with jagged bite marks, a single notch indicating the rank of foot soldier. The facade bears only an innocent smile and wide, searching eyes—seeking its own kind." Considering the context, it seems that these masks were used within Grymforge by Merregons. The Infernal Legion effect reads, "You are one, you are legion, without personality or individuality - born only to fight." If a character is standing within 20 meters of another character wearing the Devilfoil Mask, they will obtain +1 to Strength, but -1 to Intelligence, Wisdom, & Charisma.
If players don't want to use the Infernal Legion Effect, they can take the Devilfoil Masks to Dammon to create some pretty powerful explosives to use instead.

How To Properly Use The Infernal Legion Effect In BG3
While the decrease in Intelligence, Wisdom, & Charisma is not ideal in the game, it can be ideal for certain builds. Additionally, there are four different Devilfoil Masks throughout the game, and if all four are worn by an entire party, they will all gain +3 in Strength. However, it is important to realize that this means there is a -3 in Intelligence, Wisdom, & Charisma. This means that players will want to wear these masks with Classes that require Strength and remove them when not in combat. This will ensure that they get the bonuses without worrying too much about the downside outside the battle. The best course of action is to remember to remove the masks while not fighting.
