How to Get the Warped Headband of Intellect in Baldur's Gate 3

The Warped Headband of Intellect is available to obtain after arriving at the Blighted Village in Act 1 of Baldur's Gate 3. Before wandering too far and arriving at the Blighted Village under-leveled, players should first ensure to explore Emerald Grove and the neighboring woods to speak to the Tieflings and Druids, as well as complete a couple of smaller quests.

Acquiring the Warped Headband of Intellect will involve combat with enemies who are around the level 4 mark, so players will need to ensure their party is up for the challenge by being around the same level or even slightly higher to make the fight more of a breeze.

Once players have arrived at Blighted Village, they will need to head into a room that houses three massive Ogres. These Ogres are fairly easy to miss if players don't thoroughly investigate every building within the Blighted Village, so for a much quicker search they can simply head to the building under the coordinates of X:9, Y: 370. Upon entering the building, a cutscene will be triggered, which involves a trio of Ogres feasting on the remains of a Tiefling.

Upon conversing with the leader of these Ogres, Lump the Enlightened, players will notice that he seems more well put together than the average Ogre. Through continued conversation with Lump, players will be able to bribe him and the Ogres into assisting their party in combat for the right price or even convince him to hire out their services for free. However, while Lump the Enlightened is the one who holds the Warped Headband of Intellect, there is no way to obtain it from him without killing him off.

For players who need to get their hands on the Warped Headband of Intellect as soon as possible, the only option is to trigger combat with the Ogres by attacking Lump. However, for those who do not mind waiting a little longer for the powerful Intelligence stat boost provided by this item, there is an alternative option that allows the party to benefit from Lump's help in combat.

Instead of attacking Lump, convince him or bribe him with Gold to offer his services as an ally. In return, players will gain a Horn, which they can use to summon Lump and the Ogres to any combat to kill anyone who is not within the party.

This Horn is only usable during Act 1, so players can make the most of this opportunity to work their way through the most difficult encounters during the early game and then attack and kill Lump after he's been summoned or when he shows up in camp looking for payment. After Lump has been killed, the Warped Headband of Intellect will be available for any character to loot from his corpse.

Warped Headband of Intellect Perk & How to Get the Most Value, Explained

The Warped Headband of Intellect in BG3.

The Warped Headband of Intellect is one of the few useful items in the entire Baldur's Gate 3 game that enables an equipped character to boost one of their stats without the need for a respect or Ability Improvement Feat. These items are extremely valuable, as they can boost stats in a weak area for a character or enable a character to respect and spread their stats more evenly to become a 'jack of all trades' type.

The Warped Headband increases the wearer's Intelligence to 17. An INT of 17 is equal to the maximum one of a character's initial starting stats can be at level 1, so this is a huge benefit to any build. However, there are some Class builds in particular that the Warped Headband of Intellect will greatly enhance and improve, as listed below:

  • Rogue - Arcane Trickster: Arcane Tricksters fall into a common problem, especially if the player is new to DND rules and Classes. Upon creating a level 1 Rogue, many players will prioritize Dexterity, Constitution, and then Charisma in that order, as these are considered to be the most important stats for all Rogues. However, Arcane Tricksters gain Spell Attacks, which utilize the Intelligence Spellcasting Modifier. As most Rogues dumped the INT stat upon creation, this means that their Spells and Arcane Trickster will be rather underwhelming in terms of damage output. Luckily, the Warped Headband of Intellect can make up for this by pumping INT up to 17, making an Arcane Trickster much more viable while still keeping solid numbers in the other important stats for Rogue.
  • Fighter - Eldritch Knight: Eldritch Knight Fighters fall into the same situation as Arcane Trickster Rogues, as Fighters usually pump their Strength, Constitution, and Dexterity stats upon creation. Because of this, Eldritch Knights will often find that their Spellcasting is weak in comparison to their melee attacks due to having a weak INT stat. Thankfully, the Warped Headband of Intellect can also remedy this and make the Eldritch Knight much more viable in terms of Spellcasting damage output.
  • Respeccing to buff a general build: If players have taken INT as one of their prioritized stats, then the Warped Headband of Intellect offers a great perk. As long as INT isn't the character's primary stat and Spellcasting Modifier, then it can be considered a secondary strength. If players have buffed INT upon character creation, then they can equip the Warped Headband of Intellect before going to Withers to respecc their builds, changing the base stats of their character to prioritize a secondary stat other than INT.
