Shadowheart is one of the most popular characters from Baldur's Gate 3, the smash hit Dungeons and Dragons CRPG from Larian Studios. The only default Cleric in the game, Shadowheart is a firm feature of many players' parties thanks to her great integration into the main quest and her utility in battle.
Baldur's Gate 3: Hardest Achievements
Players will have to put in quite a bit of effort to unlock the following achievements in Baldur's Gate 3.
Thanks to the great availability of items in Baldur's Gate 3 there are many options for gearing up Shadowheart. Several rings, in particular, will prove useful to Shadowheart. Here are the best rings that players may want to consider equipping to Shadowheart.
1 Shifting Corpus Ring
Harder To Hit, Harder To Kill
- What it does: Gives the wearer the ability to cast Invisibility and Blur once per Long Rest, without using up spell slots
- Where to find: Act 2, dropped by Flaming Fist Marcus at the Last Light Inn
The
Shifting Corpus Ring is a good protective ring that grants the wearer the ability to cast Invisibility and Blur once per Long Rest. These are great defensive options that can help increase Shadowheart's survivability, perfect since she usually ends up being the dedicated healer of any party.
Even better, neither spell costs a spell slot to use, meaning Shadowheart can still cast from her own roster of excellent spells like Spirit Guardians.
2 Ring Of Free Action
Ignoring Difficult Terrain Can Come In Handy For Shadowheart
- What it does: Grants immunity to Paralyzed and Restrained, allows wearer to ignore Difficult Terrain
- Where to find: Act 2, sold by Araj Oblodra in Moonrise Towers
The
Ring of Free Action is a great ring for any character, but it can be especially useful for a Cleric who needs to remain upright and able to make actions on as many turns as possible. The Ring of Free Action allows Shadowheart to ignore Difficult Terrain and grants her immunity to Paralysis and Restrained.
It's definitely a ring worth wearing for some of the difficult fights in the game, and can really help Shadowheart make the best use of her Spirit Guardians spell.
3 Ring Of Twilight
Useful For Shadowheart's Default Subclass
- What it does: Gives the wearer a +1 bonus to Armour Class while obscured
- Where to find: Act 2, hidden inside a Traveller's Chest in a ruined tower on the Ruined Battlefield
The
Ring of Twilight can be useful for a Shadowheart who remained in her default subclass and who has continued along the path of a Follower of Shar. The Ring of Twilight gives a bonus to Armour Class while obscured, a condition that is easy to achieve for a Trickery Cleric of Shar.
It even pairs well with other items themed around Shar, making it a fantastic choice for an evil Shadowheart, especially one who hasn't been respecced into a different class or subclass.
4 Ring Of Salving
More Healing, Less Dying
- What it does: Adds +2 hit points to the value of healing whenever the wearer heals another character
- Where to find: Act 1, sold by Omeluum in the Underdark
The
Ring of Salving is a great choice for Shadowheart during the earlier Acts of the game because it adds 2 hit points to the value of her healing every time she heals someone. This is great news during Act 1 where many characters have very low hit points, so 2 points can make a world of difference.
5 Ring Of Evasion
Turning A Loss Into A Win
- What it does: Allows the wearer to change an unsuccessful Dexterity Saving Throw into a successful one using a Reaction
- Where to find: Act 1, during the first Long Rest after crashing on the Nautiloid (only if playing as Gale)
Clerics have a lot of pressure on their ability scores, so it can be hard to decide which ones are the most necessary. The Ring of Evasion lets Shadowheart focus more on her Wisdom scores than her Dexterity because it grants the Dextrous Evasion passive feature. Dextrous Evasion lets Shadowheart change an unsuccessful Dexterity saving throw into a successful one instead of using a Reaction.
Turning around an unsuccessful Dexterity saving throw can prove its worth time and time again in the heat of battle for Shadowheart.
6 Ring Of Mental Inhibition
Playing Mind Games
- What it does: Gives any enemy that fails a Saving Throw against the wearer Mental Fatigue for 2 turns
- Where to find: Act 2, found in a locked chest in the Ruined Battlefield east of the Shadowed Battlefield Waypoint
Lots of Cleric abilities and spells come with a Saving Throw roll for the enemy, and the Ring of Mental Inhibition is great for a Shadowheart who uses a lot of these kinds of skills. That's because the Ring of Mental Inhibition gives any enemy that fails a Saving Throw Mental Fatigue for 2 turns.
Mental Fatigue is a great condition to afflict enemies with because it lowers various ability scores, making for an easier battle.
7 Family Ring
Helps To Avoid Death
- What it does: Gives the wearer a +2 bonus to Death Saving Throws
- Where to find: Act 2, in a burrow near Ellie May's grave in Ruined Battlefield
The
Family Ring is a useful ring that grants a +2 bonus to Death Saving Throws. It may not have worked for its previous owners, but they probably used it wrong anyway.
Every player knows how incredibly frustrating it is when the healer of a party dies before anyone else can get to them, and Family Ring helps avoid death. Or at the very least gives downed characters more of a chance. Useful for a Shadowheart who always seems to be downed and circling the drain.
8 Til Death Do Us Part
Hope Springs Eternal
-
What it does: Gives the wearer the ability to cast a free
Beacon of Hope
spell once per Long Rest
- Where to find: Act 3, given as a reward for certain outcomes of the Free the Artist quest by Lady Jannath; can also be pickpocketed from Lady Jannath
Til Death Do Us Part is a good ring that offers Shadowheart the ability to cast a free Beacon of Hope spell once per Long Rest. This is a good buffing spell and being able to use it thanks to this ring is a good option for conserving Shadowheart's very precious spell slots, which she can then use for other fantastic spells like
Spirit Guardians or even her repertoire of healing spells. Works very well when paired with other buffing abilities.
9 Ring Of Regeneration
Helps Her, So She Can Help You
- What it does: Heals the wearer for +1d4 hit points at the start of every turn
- Where to find: Act 3, sold by Rolan in Sorcerous Sundries if both Rolan and Lorroakan are alive; sold by Lorroakan's Projection if Rolan is dead; and can be pickpocketed from Rolan in Ramazith's Tower if Lorroakan is dead and Rolan is alive
The
Ring of Regeneration is an excellent choice for any character, but it can work well on a Shadowheart who needs just a little bit more help staying alive. It seems to be a rule of many RPGs that the healer takes the most damage, so it can be hard to keep them upright in battle. But the Ring of Regeneration can be a big help.
Baldur's Gate 3: 12 Best Rings You Can Get In Act Three, Ranked
There are several rings for Baldur's Gate 3 players to find in Act 3; here are the best ones available.
This is because the Ring of Regeneration heals the wearer for +1d4 hit points at the start of every turn, acting as a nice backup to more focused healing. This effect can be really helpful for Shadowheart, who often needs to stay alive so she can heal the rest of the party.
10 The Whispering Promise
A Great Ring For A Cleric Like Shadowheart
- What it does: Gives any character healed by the wearer a +1d4 bonus to Attack Rolls and Saving Throws for 2 turns
- Where to find: Available in all three Acts of the game. Act 1, can be purchased from Volo at the Druid's Grove or camp after rescuing him; Act 2, can be purchased by Volo who hasn't performed surgery; Act 3, Volo after being rescued outside of the Steel Watch Foundry
The Whispering Promise is a fantastic ring to use for Shadowheart because as a Cleric, she's going to be doing a lot of healing of other characters. The Whispering Promise grants the passive feature Blessed Mercy to Shadowheart, which gives any character she heals a +1d4 bonus to Attack Rolls and Saving Throws for 2 turns.
It's great when paired with an item like the
Hellrider's Pride Gloves for fantastic buffing utility.
