Larian Studios has revealed the three Origin characters that Baldur's Gate 3 picked most to be their playable avatars. Baldur's Gate 3 recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of its PC launch. Though it's been out for a year, Baldur's Gate 3's popularity has persisted, and it remains one of the most popular games in the world.
A big reason why Baldur's Gate 3 was such a hit is because of its incredible cast of characters. Baldur's Gate 3 features a slew of brilliantly-written characters brought to life through award-winning performances. Most of the time, Baldur's Gate 3 players encounter these Origin characters as optional party members on their adventures, but they also have the option of playing them as their primary avatar.
Baldur's Gate 3 Reveals How Many Players Have Completed Honour Mode
Baldur's Gate 3 reveals the astoundingly small percentage of players who have completed the game in Honour Mode, the highest difficulty available.
Larian recently pulled the curtain back on a bunch of interesting Baldur's Gate 3 stats in celebration of the game's one-year anniversary. This included the game's most popular Origin characters. According to Larian, 1.21 million players chose Astarion as their avatar, with 1.20 million picking Gale and another 0.86 million picking Shadowheart. Astarion, portrayed by Neil Newbon, is easily one of the most popular Baldur's Gate 3 characters, and so it's really no surprise to see him take the top spot. Shadowheart and Gale are also very popular within the Baldur's Gate 3 community, though some may be surprised that Karlach didn't take a spot in the top three.
Most-Picked Baldur's Gate 3 Origin Characters As Avatars
- Astarion - 1.21 million
- Gale - 1.20 million
- Shadowheart - 0.86 million
While there are some Baldur's Gate 3 players that choose one of the Origin characters as their avatar, it seems the vast majority opted to create their own character from scratch. According to Larian's data, over 93% of Baldur's Gate 3 players created a custom character instead of picking an Origin character, with 15% of those picking Dark Urge.
Besides revealing the most popular Origin character options, Larian also revealed the top-picked classes and races in Baldur's Gate 3. It seems Paladin was the most popular Baldur's Gate 3 class, while Elf was the most-picked race. The least-picked BG3 class was Cleric, while Halfling was the least popular race among fans of the game.
