Players love big and detailed games that lend themselves to hours of careful exploration, which is one of the reasons they have so much love for Baldur's Gate 3. It's common knowledge in the gaming community that Larian Studios had to cut a lot of content short, and as a result, there are a few unfinished storylines on the path to the Absolute.

Baldur's Gate 3 Moments That Show Why Larian Studios Won Game Of The Year

Larian Studios has won Game of the Year for Baldur's Gate 3 at The Game Awards 2023, and many moments in the game show why it won.

There are so many characters and stories in Baldur's Gate 3 that it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to tie them all up in one game. The success of BG3 might prompt a sequel, however, and maybe some of these abandoned plotlines will conclude in the sequel.

6 Mol And The Mob

An Ambitious Child Who Made A Deal With A Devil

Mol is the ambitious young entrepreneuse who got her start running a thieving ring underneath the Druid Grove. It's possible to access her secret hideout, but it's entirely a side-quest and isn't essential to the storyline.

If you have a Criminal Background, there's a point of Inspiration to be had if you help to fund her plans to start her own mafia in the big city, and it's possible to follow her character from Act 1 all the way to the Guildhall of Nine Fingers but her story abruptly ends there. It feels like her ending landed on the cutting room floor, but she may appear again as Nine Fingers Replacement or as the boss of her own gang.

5 Looking For Lenore

The Missing Mage

There's a lot of conjecture among players regarding what happened to the resident of the Arcane Tower in the southeast corner of the Underdark. Some theories indicate that she was killed by her automatons, eaten by her pet Bluette, or simply went to Baldur's Gate to do some work for Gortash on the Steel Watch.

Baldur's Gate 3: Best Amulets You Can Get In Act 1, Ranked

Before players begin Act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3, they should make sure to get some of the amulets available in Act 1.

A definitive answer is never given, even though there are clues to be found throughout the tower and nearby locations like campsites from both the mage and her companions, there's no further sign of her. If she did go to Baldur's Gate, it's possible her story ended in the Upper City, most of which was lost in the final edit.

4 Nina Dortmell, Necromancer

A Chance Encounter In The Graveyard

The sweet little curly-haired girl experimenting with basic Necromancy seems innocent enough, especially in a city like Baldur's Gate where much weirder things can happen. It turns out Nina has some talent but needs some basic tutoring, and if you help her, she reveals the true extent of her power.

Nina doesn't just resurrect her brother but a whole section of the graveyard, which is impressive even for a beginner. It's disappointing that she doesn't have much to say after because this has a lot of potential for an exciting story and maybe even a side quest.

3 The Fate Of Arabella

She Just Disappears In The Third Act

Arabella is the precocious Tiefling child who tries to steal the Druid Idol in Act 1 and almost pays for it with her life. Assuming she lives, she has a journey that runs parallel to the players as they travel from the wilderness and through Shadow-cursed Lands to Baldur's Gate.

Act two of Baldur's Gate 3 raises the stakes from the first act. These missable encounters are worth experiencing before the third and final act.

However, she disappears in Act 3 after a brief chance meeting, and although she leaves a note it doesn't leave any clue to her whereabouts or ultimate fate. Like certain other NPCs that you meet in Act 1 and follow through the game, Arabella's story feels unfinished, like a scene is missing. She doesn't even return to help fight the Absolute.

2 The Society Of Brilliance

Characters This Interesting Can't Be Pointless

BG3: Omeluum

Blurg and Omeluum are two unusual NPCs that the player can find in the Myconid Colony in the Underdark. Like the Emporer, Omeluum is a free-thinking Illithid but unlike the Dream Guardian, he doesn't have ulterior motives. His companion, Blurg, is a friendly hobgoblin, and he's the one you meet later in Baldur's Gate who asks you to find, and if required, rescue his friend.

Rescue Omeluum from his prison in the Iron Throne, he'll reward you with some useful potions and scrolls but has nothing to say about the research that he was raving about while he was in the Myconid Colony. It feels like something that's missing as if he's forgotten everything the two of you spoke about in Act 2.

1 Withers And The Epilogue

A Dropped Thread Or A Future Prophecy

dead three mural bg3 epilogue

Even if you're the kind of person who likes to read credits, it's a long list of names to sit through after the completion of the adventure. If you can make it through to the end, however, there's a cut scene of Withers speaking to a mural on the wall of Myrkul, Bhaal, and Bane.

It seems they made a critical miscalculation when they hatched their plan to turn most of the Sword Coast into Mind Flayers, and Withers, who is actually a forgotten god named Jergal, had a hand in helping the protagonist defeat them. This ending is a strong indication that the Dead Three will return, and when they do, there will be another hero to stop them.
