Unlike the original Final Fantasy VII, which keeps most of its side quests hidden until the endgame, Final Fantasy VII Remake offers up a steady stream of bonus missions and objectives as Cloud and the party journey through Midgar.

Players engage in the Wall Market's Colosseum during the story, but optional bouts open up afterwards. Doing these comes highly recommended, especially since this is the only way to unlock each character's level two Limit Break.

If one is tactful with Materia, they should not present too big of a challenge. The rounds also net experience points, which will help make the story content easier.

The "Burning Thighs" side quest introduced the squatting minigame. After besting the first opponent, Cloud can challenge two additional athletes with increasing difficulty.

8 Shinra Combat Simulator

In Chapter Three a woman is standing next to a board with no numbers on it. She then explains that it tracks how many monsters Cloud and his comrades have slain. After destroying fifty monsters, which should come easily by doing the chapter's side quests, go back to her and speak to receive several different rewards.

It would have been fun to have this as an ongoing side quest throughout the game, but Chadley's Battle Intel Reports take its place and serve the mix up combat even more.

6 Bahamut

After completing all of Chadley's Battle Intel Reports, the player unlocks the ability to fight Bahamut, an iconic summon featured in most Final Fantasy  titles.

The bout is one of the game's most challenging. The monster has no elemental weaknesses, so players simply must do their best to stagger it before it can use Megaflare, an ability almost guaranteed to wipe out the party. After victory, players can use Bahamut in battle.

Even then, players still have to contend with several rounds in the Top Secret Match before the final fight against this super boss. Thankfully, it is weak against Thunder, a small solace against this powerful foe. Winning nets the Gotterdammerung accessory.

3 Collecting All The Manuscripts
