How to Get the Shotgun Early
The Shotgun can only be acquired once the player has unlocked the open world of Pandora. This means that the "Becoming" main quest must be completed. Players will reach the Resistance Headquarters as part of the main campaign. There, players will meet Alexandar Tremayne, who will give them a Systems Interrogation Device (SID). The SID is basically a Hacking Gun that will let players override RDA security, including the yellow crate that contains the weapon.
Once the player has the SID in their possession, their next task is to head to the Fueling Station, which is located to the southeast of the Resistance Headquarters. Look for a locked yellow crate. It should be near an abandoned truck. Feel free to use the Na'vi senses to find the crate quickly.
Use the recently acquired SID gun and complete the hacking mini-game. The yellow crate will unlock, presenting the player with their first shotgun in the game.
Benefits of the Shotgun
In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, the Shotgun can be a great equalizer for the player. Although the bow and arrow and the assault rifle are fun to use and effective in their own right, the game doesn't give the player a good close-range weapon until much later. The Shotgun allows players to be more aggressive. An RDA Mech, which will be lethal otherwise, can easily be taken down by a few well-placed shots from this weapon. If players find the shotgun too overpowered for the early game, they can always choose not to use it, but it can be a boon to those who are struggling.
