About Ryan Forgosh

Ryan Forgosh is a student of journalism at Emerson College and has written for the Asbury Park Press, UGames, and the Berkley Beacon in the past. He has been an avid gamer his whole life, captaining Emerson Esports's Splatoon team the Squid Kids as well as being a part of their Counter Strike team. Ryan has written on a variety of topics throughout his journalism career ranging from video games, breaking news, data investigation, weather, and politics. In addition to his journalist writing, Ryan has also had his creative writing work published in Stork Magazine. In terms of personal preference, Ryan tends to gear himself more towards story based games, prefering to be immersed in a deep narrative rather than action. This ranges from rpgs to visual novels. Video games are art and their stories literature and Ryan enjoys being engrossed in them. Although he'll always take a break from these games for a round of Counter Strike with friends.

Favorite Console

The Nintendo DS is probably my favorite console. It's the first video game console I owned myself. I had a Wii that was shared with my family, but the DS was mine. I still have my red DS Lite model. I used it so much the top screen separated from the bottom and I had to send it to Nintendo to have it fixed. I refused to just get a different DS. That was my DS and I still treasure it to this day.

Favorite Games

My favorite game is The World Ends With You. I played it when I was young and it latched into my brain and altered its chemistry permanently. It's the greatest example of a "power of friendship" story. It has the style of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy but set in modern day (at the time) Shibuya and a story that alters my brain all over again every time I play it.

Proudest Gaming Achievement

My proudest gaming achievement comes from captaining the Squid Kids, my Splatoon team. In our second season we were able to get a positive record, stream our games, and become more competitive. Leading that team to success will likely always be my proudest gaming achievement.
