About Rhenn Taguiam

Rhenn is a Manila-based content writer with a love for all things geek and pop culture, and science and technology. He has over 1,900 articles to his name, most of which exploring the many dimensions of video games. Rhenn is well-versed in all things pop culture, taking his journalistic prowess to the next level as the editor-in-chief for Philippines-based What's A Geek!.

Rhenn is a seasoned player of Dungeons & Dragons  and World of Darkness  of 10+ years, with a couple hundred hours in Baldur's Gate 3, World of Warcraft, and Valorant

Rhenn graduated BA Journalism degree as a Cum Laude, and has since then pursued making content about geek culture.

Favorite Games

The sheer depth of tabletop continues to mesmerize Rhenn as a gamer, be it as a Dragonborn Paladin in fantasy worlds in Dungeons & Dragons or as a Tremere within the World of Darkness in Vampire: The Masquerade. However, a few video games do stand out when expanding his horizons across genres. He also appreciates the impact of immersion through storytelling and player choice, with both the gameplay and story of Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 adding to his perspective on the growing evolution of RPGs and gaming at large.

Industry Focus

Since entering the realm of professional journalistic writing, Rhenn's focus as a video game journalist is tied to his interests in RPGs, the occasional FPS, as well as AAA experiences. Moreover, lore and stories always fascinated Rhenn as an aspiring creative writer, with the writer often finding himself invested in the way characters evolve with a game's universe and story as much as how mechanics pave the way for an enjoyable experience.

Favorite Console

The advent of console gaming has become a godsend for Rhenn, as he prefers ending day-to-day work with his Lenovo Legion Go  and lying on the bed. Although admittedly not as powerful as the traditional PC, being able to log a few hours in The Division 2 , try out new assassination methods in Hitman, and dig deeper into another Baldur's Gate 3  playthrough has never been this comfortable.
