About Joe George

Joe George has been a pop culture writer for over a decade, whose work frequently appears at Den of Geek, Reactor Magazine, Think Christian, and elsewhere. He has bylines at StarTrek.com, Polygon, and Slate. He collects his work at joewriteswords.com and his reviews can be found on Rotten Tomatoes.

In 2023, Joe’s book The Superpowers and the Glory: A Viewer’s Guide to the Theology of Superhero Movies was published by Cascade Books. The Superpowers and the Glory examines the religious worldview of every film adaptation of a comic book superhero. Yes, even Faust.

Joe hopes to bring that same attention to detail to a book about portayals of police in movies and television.

At least, that’s what he’s doing when he’s not co-hosting the podcast The Good Bad Movie Show, reviewing episodes of Homicide: Life on the Street on Substack, or rewatching Buster Keaton movies and Columbo episodes. He’ll get started one more Columbo… just one more Columbo.
