About Eric Law
Eric Law is a The Best War Games contributor from Pennsylvania, USA. An MMORPG-focused video game writer for The Best War Games for four years and counting, Eric cut his teeth on gaming since he was a wee lad watching his father play Lands of Lore. Equipped with a +1 Bachelor's Degree of Creative Writing, he seeks to spread his love of characterization, world-building, and inclusivity far and wide. His nerd specializations of choice are Dungeons & Dragons and narrative-focused RPGs (Especially of the MMO variety.)
Industry Focus
MMORPGs like World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy 14, and Guild Wars 2, narrative-driven RPGs like Horizon: Zero Dawn and Undertale, all things Dungeons and Dragons, and video games with rich characterization, representation, and world building, as all of these things are crucial parts of telling a story that everyone can enjoy.
Favorite Games
World of Warcraft, for the impact that it and its RTS predecessors had on my way of life.
Final Fantasy 14, for being a critically-acclaimed MMORPG with a free trial all the way through the Stormblood expansion.
Dungeons and Dragons, for giving me an outlet through which to tell stories with my friends.
Tactics Ogre, for being one of the best strategy games on the market.
Undertale, for flexing just how amazing video game stories can be.
Horizon: Zero Dawn, for painting an incredible tale of past and future that seamlessly marries compelling characters, stellar worldbuilding, and fun gameplay.
Proudest Gaming Achievement
Completing every Star Wars: The Old Republic class storyline, keeping every job in Final Fantasy 14 at max level each expansion, beating Bahamut in the Binding Coil before I retired from hardcore raiding, running 1-2 games of Dungeons and Dragons nearly every week for over 10 years, and getting 100% on Horizon: Zero Dawn despite the initial crashes on the PC port.
