About Christopher Castellaw

Christopher is a Features writer from the USA who has been playing, working on, and writing about video games for over 20 years and has a lifelong passion for the gaming industry as a whole.

He began writing about the industry for ActiveXbox in 2004 where, during his tenure, Christopher produced news stories, game reviews, and provided editorial coverage of E3 for several years. After years spent writing about games, Christopher moved to Los Angeles to spend the next part of his career working on them. Working with developers and publishers including Activision Blizzard and Saber Interactive, Christopher provided production support and quality assurance assistance on over a dozen titles for PC and consoles.

Following an extended break from the gaming industry, Christopher is excited to be writing about games once again as part of the Features team at The Best War Games. When he's not gaming you can find Christopher exploring his beautiful home state of Colorado, auditioning for voice over work, covering the VR industry on his Nerd Corner YouTube channel, or planning out his next big adventure.

Industry Focus

As a self-professed XR evangelist, Christopher enjoys covering new VR games and the VR industry as a whole whenever he has the chance. In addition to VR titles, Christopher is a lifelong fan of both horror and racing games and still enjoys a well-made single-player shooter even though multiplayer titles have come to dominate the genre. While these genres make up the bulk of his playtime, Christopher always relishes a chance to try something new and his time at The Best War Games has introduced him to numerous games and genres that he had previously passed by.

Favorite Console

The Super Nintendo. It was the system Christopher played the most throughout his childhood, and he stills feel that it has one of of the best software libraries of any console. From groundbreaking roleplaying games like Final Fantasy III and Secret of Mana to action games like Mega Man X and Teenage Mutant Turtles: Turtles in Time, the Super Nintendo played home to some of the best titles of the era and helped establish Christopher's gaming tastes for years to come.

Favorite Games

After failing to get into The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim  over the years despite repeated attempts across numerous platforms, Christopher has recently been sucked into the world of Starfield  and has spent entirely too much time customizing his starship. While Starfield  may be the latest game to capture Christopher's attention, he's a long-time fan of the Resident Evil  series and enjoys playing those and any other horror titles that catch his eye. When it comes to VR games, he can frequently be found playing a round of Pavlov or exploring the latest artistic creations on display in VR Chat.
