About Christopher Adams

Chris is a gamer, writer, actor, journalist, and listmaker. Mostly, though, he is a gamer. Playing games since he could hold a controller, there are few things he has more reverence for. After graduating from college in 2024 and acting in a few off-Broadway shows, he decided to find a career in the same hobby that captured his interest for as long as he can remember. He's been a reporter and editor since college, working first at The New School Free Press, covering as much as he could, from New York City politics and Florida book bans, to movies, nightlife, and even jazz music subcultures. His love of games stems from the power they hold as artistic and collaborative worlds of their own, and his gaming expertise lies mostly in the HaloDestiny, Fallout, and Borderlands  franchises. He's enamored with the lore of FromSoftware games (even Kingsfield), loves playing a truly great Call of Duty Zombies map, and also maintains a soft spot for tactical shooters, mostly Ready or Not and Arma.

Industry Focus

Chris' work at The Best War Games often sits at the intersection of games as a culture, games as works of artistic labor, and games as long-term artifacts, with a particular emphasis on how industry decisions ripple outward into player experience. He's committed to examining how games are made, played, and talked about, and what those choices say about the values of an industry or audience over time. A skeptic by nature, his underlying concern in the modern games industry is what gets lost when efficiency, scalability, or market momentum take priority over human artistry and creativity.

Favorite Games

Chris has over 2000 hours in the Borderlands franchise, 1000 in the Fallout and Destiny franchises, and 500 hours in Dark Souls 3, Elden Ring, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. He has another few hundred in the incredible Baldurs Gate 3, and likely over a thousand hours in Call of Duty: Black Ops  Zombies, at least in the maps from Black Ops 1-3.

Proudest Gaming Achievement

Chris' proudest moments include beating the Vault of Glass raid in Destiny for the first time back in 2014, and getting past round 100 on Ascension in Call of Duty: Black Ops. Recently, he's managed to beat Elden Ring with a level one character, and finish multiple honor mode playthroughs of Baldur's Gate 3.
