About Bill Tressler
Bill Tressler graduated from SUNY Albany, where he studied English and Journalism. He has worked as a writer and editor in both print and digital media for several years. He's covered everything from stand-up comedy and video games to local news.
His first console was a Sega Genesis, and he's been a dedicated nerd ever since. Next was the N64, which defined much of his childhood (and college years whenever the internet bill wasn't paid). Super Smash Bros. and Jet Force Gemini were favorites of the era.
Like many gamers from his generation, another milestone moment was the Christmas morning that he first heard the iconic menu music of Halo: Combat Evolved. Halo was a seminal series in his young gaming career and still holds a special place in his heart.
Nowadays, Bill spends his weekends playing Overwatch 2 with his dedicated group of gaming buddies (shoutout to the Good Boys), along with games like Deep Rock Galactic, Helldivers 2 and others.
He's currently plugging away at Baldur's Gate 3 both solo and co-op, and is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the much-anticipated Elden Ring DLC.
Bill is excited to be writing for The Best War Games as a longtime reader himself. He's always enjoyed how wide-reaching GR's coverage is, and is eager to help contribute to that output.
Favorite Games
Bill's current most-played games include Helldivers 2, Baldur's Gate 3, Overwatch 2, FC24, Chivalry 2 and Elden Ring (the DLC hype is real!)
Bill Tressler is a writer and editor who has been writing for years on the topics of comedy, video games and more.
Favorite Console
Bill's main console is the Xbox Series X. He's maintained the same Xbox Live account for nearly 20 years, though he's broadened his platform horizons in recent years.
He still thinks fondly of his original Xbox, playing classics like Halo and Fusion Frenzy with that glorious hamburger-shaped controller.
Proudest Gaming Achievement
One of Bill's proudest gaming moments was when he attended an MLG event to compete as an amateur in one of their Halo 2 competitions. He and a couple friends he'd previously only known online formed a team and... didn't win, but they survived the initial knockout round against players that they expected would wipe the floor with them with no time to practice.
He also recently hit level 300 on Deep Rock Galactic. He insists on being referred to as "Lord of the Deep" in all official communications.
