Atrioc, who was recently implicated in a deepfake controversy, has reportedly resigned from OFFBRAND, a creative agency and content studio. For those unfamiliar with the name, Atrioc (real name Brandon Ewing) is a widely followed American Twitch streamer with over 300,000 followers. He is primarily known for his Just Chatting streams but also streams a diverse range of games like Elden Ring, Hitman 3, Fall Guys, League of Legends, and more.It all started on January 30 when a controversial video surfaced on the internet which claimed to reveal Atrioc's involvement in viewing deepfakes of other streamers. The video contained footage of Atrioc's computer screen, briefly displaying one of his tabs which was allegedly a deepfake website. This website is known for selling deepfake images and videos of popular female Twitch streamers, such as Pokimane, Amouranth, and QTCinderella. As a result, the video quickly gained attention and went viral on the internet, attracting widespread negative criticism and backlash towards Atrioc. Within a matter of hours after the controversial video clip went viral, Atrioc held a tearful Twitch stream to provide explanations for his actions. During the stream, he stated that his curiosity about AI and deepfake technology, particularly in the realm of AI art, had led him to visit various websites. On one of these websites, he encountered advertisements placed alongside each video, and out of curiosity, he clicked on one of the ads.
However, Atrioc's apology was met with backlash from the streaming community, leading to further criticism. In response, the Twitch streamer has issued another apology and announced a break from streaming and leaving OFFBRAND. Atrioc began by addressing Pokimane and Maya, stating that he specifically wanted to apologize for their involvement in a screenshot that spread on the internet. He acknowledged that their names were dragged into the situation, and they were sexualized against their will. Additionally, he apologized for his actions and pledged to make amends to the best of his abilities.
Latest reports indicate that the individual responsible for creating the deepfakes has taken down all of their content and issued a public apology. Despite these efforts, the situation has not yet been resolved as some of the affected Twitch streamers have announced their intention to take legal action against the deepfake creator.
