Players are finally diving into Atomic Heart, the new RPG shooter from Mundfish that’s set in a Soviet utopia. Atomic Heart was first announced in 2018 with a one-minute trailer that gained instant attention as well as a healthy amount of skepticism. As more information emerged about the game’s alternate history, robotic horrors, and challenging puzzles, many players hopped on the hype train for the cinematic shooter.

PC players will get to jump in a little sooner as long as they play on Steam, while console and Game Pass players will have to wait a few more hours to jump in.

Atomic Heart File Size

Atomic-Heart-Bot-Face-Attack

Being a large-scale, open-world RPG, it’s no surprise that Atomic Heart has a huge file size. On Steam, the system requirements lists 90GB of free space, and on Game Pass, it requires 75.24 GB. On consoles, the PS4 version weighs 47.9 GB, while the PS5 version is slightly slimmer at 41.7 GB. The Xbox Series X version though is a huge 78.7 GB, so make some room.

It’s also important to note that–like any new game–Atomic Heart will receive patches and hotfixes in the near future, so clear at least another 20GB to give it space to grow into.

Atomic Heart System Requirements

The system requirements for Atomic Heart are actually surprisingly modest. A Geforce RTX 2070S or Radeon RX 6700XT is most of what players need to use Ultra Settings at 1080p. The 16GB of memory is fairly standard, and the processor doesn’t have to be top-tier, either. An Intel i7 or Ryzen 5 2600X provides the best experience, but an i5 or a 1600 would do well too.

Players using a GTX 1080 can still maintain 60 FPS at High settings as long as they have the memory and processor to keep up. Players wanting a 4k experience can have it if their rig is hooked up to the very powerful RTX 3080 or a Radeon RX 6800XT.

Atomic Heart will launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 21, 2023.
