While almost every game out there has a dedicated setting for FOV (Field of View), Atomic Heart is not one of those games. The lack of a FOV slider is even more alarming because Atomic Heart is a first-person shooter.

By default, the FOV for Atomic Heart is locked at 90, but players could see more if it were to be increased. For instance, with a greater FOV, players could see more enemies and prevent them from flanking. While Atomic Heart does not have a dedicated setting to change FOV, players can change it using a third-party app or editing the Engine.ini file.

How to Increase FOV in Atomic Heart

Players have two ways to change the FOV in Atomic Heart on PC, which are as follows:

By using the Flawless Widescreen App

  1. Download the Flawless Widescreen app.
  2. Open the Flawless Widescreen app.
  3. Use the search bar or the FWS Plugin Section to locate Atomic Heart.
  4. After selecting Atomic Heart, select FOV Fix (Game).
  5. Use the slider next to In-Game FOV-Fine Adjustment to change the FOV.
  6. Players can change the FOV from 10-40%.
  7. Now, players can start Atomic Heart without quitting the Flawless Widescreen app.

Players should set the FOV to 10% first and then change it if it is unsuitable.

By Editing the Engine.ini File

While the Flawless Widescreen app allows players to change the FOV, the most they can get is 40%, which is unfortunate for players with ultra-wide screens. However, players can get more FOV by editing the Engine.ini file.

To edit the Engine.ini file to increase FOV, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the Engine.ini file under Atomic Heart > Saved > Config.WindowsNoEditor.
  2. Open the Engine.ini file using a text editor like Notepad.
  3. At the bottom, add the following lines: [/script/engine.localplayer] AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV
  4. Save and exit the file for the game to run on the native aspect ratio.
  5. Run Atomic Heart.

It is worth noting that several mods out there allow players to change the FOV in Atomic Heart, but not all of them are great. Fortunately, the Flawless Widescreen app and Custom Field of View mod for Atomic Heart changes the FOV without causing the game to crash. But then again, there is no guarantee it will not cause other problems for players while playing the game.

Players should not use multiple Atomic Heart FOV mods simultaneously.
