According to Charles–the coy AI companion in Atomic Heart–Dewdrop is an advanced hydraulic pump that represents the latest in the field of biomechanics. It's one of the many impressive boss fights in Atomic Heart, but Dewdrop is definitely one of the hardest. It’s a mass of Polymer muscle surrounded by a synthetic exoskeleton.

It’s listed under the “Organic” enemies in the Lore pages. Its “intended” purpose is for mining operations, where it uses its huge laser to bore perfectly straight holes. As it turns out, the laser is equally capable of boring perfectly straight holes through Agent P-3 as well.

Dewdrop’s Stats

Dewdrop is resistant to many types of damage, but not everything. Using the scanner on it, players will notice the Dewdrop is resistant to the following types of damage:

  • Energy Weapons
  • Explosive Damage
  • Frost, Fire, and Electricity

Dewdrop also has an incredible health pool. Most of its outer shell and all of its legs are fully resistant to damage. However, Dewdrop does have one weak spot: its laser eye. Whenever Dewdrop opens its eye shield, it's vulnerable to damage. It does this whenever it attacks or gets stunned and occasionally while it's moving. Since Dewdrop is doing everything so rapidly, its eye shield spends more time opened than closed.

What to Bring

Dewdrop isn't vulnerable to anything, but there are two things he’s not resistant to: regular firearms and melee weapons. There are also some useful skills to bring along that will make this fight a lot of fun. The following is a list of the best equipment, skills, and consumables to bring to the Dewdrop fight:

  • Zvezdochka: Upgraded for maximum damage, minimum special attack charge cost, and the Reverse Shot charge attack.
  • Mass Telekinesis: Upgraded with the following skills:
    • Neuro-Polymer Accelerator
    • Increased Impact
  • Condensed Milk: The damage increase from this will help overcome Dewdrop’s abundance of health.

How to Beat Dewdrop

Dewdrop doesn’t take any time observing formalities. It doesn’t ask questions, it doesn’t monologue. It only knows how to kill, and it has Agent P-3 in its sights. To take it down, P-3 needs an equally unforgiving approach. The best way to take down Dewdrop is to lift it with Mass Telekinesis and then hit it with the Reverse Shot charge attack from the Zvezdochka.

First Phase

When Dewdrop pops out of the whale like a giant, newborn xenomorph, it’s almost completely encased in its exoskeleton. It's tremendously resistant. It attacks by jumping and rolling over P-3 or by slamming its legs into him. It also fires its laser from every angle by rolling around the perimeter swiftly. Keep in mind that the targeting laser Dewdrop uses before it fires doesn’t indicate where the laser is going. At the time of firing, it fires directly at Agent P-3. The only way to avoid it is to dodge with perfect timing.

While dancing between laser blasts, down a Condensed Milk to boost damage output. Then, rush in and use Mass Telekinesis. It only takes one tap of the button to start it, then another to end it. While Dewdrop is suspended in the air, use the charge attack from the Zvezdochka. Hold the button down and the two saw blades will fly out and swing back and forth across Dewdrop. This should utterly destroy its health and move it right into the second phase.

The Second Phase

When Dewdrop gets down to approximately 60% health, it turns into a freakshow as it moves into its second phase. This phase involves more difficult attacks, but Dewdrop also becomes easier to hit. The Polymer goo inside sprouts of out its exoskeleton into tentacles, and it begins using them to attack. However, the gooey tentacles are also vulnerable.

Dewdrop takes on a few new jumps and slams. It also fires its laser as it did before, but now it can also choose to rapid-fire balls of goo that also deal significant damage. Dewdrop's deadliest attack is when he drops his two largest arms to either side of P-3 and wriggles them to create a kill zone. P-3 must stay within this zone and dodge either lasers or globs of goo. Thankfully though, this move can be interrupted with Mass Telekinesis. Simply repeat the attack pattern from phase one a couple more times and Dewdrop will be forever-dropped in no time.
