Players meet Captain Sims, the head of the Quarantine Zone's Protocol unit, relatively early into Atomfall. After you gain his trust by revealing villagers' secrets like Isra's husband's affliction, or giving him other useful information, Captain Sims will inform you that someone has stolen a Protocol Radio Part from the village hall.
Atomfall: How To Get & Use Signal Redirector
To get the Signal Redirector in Atomfall – one of the game's most impactful tools – players have two options: explore a prison or find a rare cache.
Captain Sims has a good idea of where the part was taken to and points players in the direction of Casterfell Woods. Follow this guide to understand how to find the Protocol Radio Part location in Atomfall and what will happen if you give Captain Sims the part.
Protocol Radio Part Location
Captain Sims will mark a location on your map that highlights where he thinks the stolen Protocol Radio Part was taken to. In the middle of the Casterfell Woods region, to the west of and below the central path, you will find the Speaker's Cave at coordinates 23.0E, 85.4N, just beyond a stone circle.
If you have been following the Mother Jago leads, you may have already visited this location. The Druids within will be hostile if you return without an Offering, though.
This cave is absolutely stuffed to the gills with Druids, so be careful as you explore the dank fungus-ridden depths. Once you reach the very depths of the area, you will come across a large open room with a pagan altar.
Walk behind this altar and into the stone room. In here, you will see various techy parts and offerings left by the Druids – look on the central table behind the altar to find the Protocol Radio Part location.
Atomfall: How Long To Beat
The time it takes to beat Atomfall varies greatly depending on your decisions and approach to this open-ended survival RPG.
Should You Give Captain Sims The Protocol Radio Part?
Once you have found the Protocol Radio Part, Atomfall players should head back to Captain Sims – if you trust Captain Sims. This is the final step before Captain Sims offers you an official means of escape, if you follow his specific directions on what to do with Oberon.
After handing back the Protocol Radio Part, Sims will reveal his true plan to escape the Quarantine Zone, and it's up to you whether to continue to trust him.
If you return the part, Sims and almost all Protocol soldiers will immediately stop being hostile towards you. In areas like Skethermoor and Casterfell Woods, Protocol Soldiers will no longer aggro, when they would have normally fired upon anything that moves. You can explore the Protocol Skethermoor Prison camp freely, after this point.
However, consider what Sims reveals after he gives you the part, and make a decision whether to pursue his unique ending. After the point of no return, head back to escape with Captain Sims, or choose another major character whose ending you have available to pursue.
