A few scant hours remain before The Game Awards bring forth 2021’s last deluge of major game announcements. Speculation over what said announcements could be has run rampant in the last few days, and a new update from Atlus has fans thinking that the publisher may have something to show at the event.

With The Game Awards premiering tonight, gamers are combing the internet in search of any clues that can shed some early light on what games may appear at the event. For instance, earlier this week, fans of Sonic the Hedgehog took notice of an update to the Sonic franchise’s Steam page that added an unknown title to the list. This is something that became even more intriguing when Sega confirmed shortly thereafter that the next Sonic game is being shown at The Game Awards.

Now it looks like the same thing may happen with one of Atlus’ upcoming titles. Fans discovered this week that Atlus’ Steam page has received a similar update. Right now, the publisher has 14 games listed on its page, which, as noted by Persona dataminer Pan-hime, is one more than it had just a few days ago. Of course, this alone doesn’t say much, but it seems safe to assume Atlus has a new game slated to come to PC in the near future. And given the timing of the update, a reveal at The Game Awards tonight seems like a real possibility.

Naturally, the biggest question that has come up since the mystery title’s discovery is what it could be. With how popular the Persona series is these days, many fans are hoping this new game could be the highly anticipated Persona 6 or, assuming that’s still a ways off, a PC port of Persona 5 Royal. An announcement of either of these would certainly spice up Persona’s 25th anniversary and make for a worthwhile reveal at The Game Awards.

Another possibility could come from Persona’s parent series, Shin Megami Tensei. Its fifth mainline entry released on the Nintendo Switch last month, and it wasn’t long after that dataminers discovered evidence that PC and PS4 ports of Shin Megami Tensei 5 are being planned. Given the overall positive reception to the game on Switch, most RPG fans probably wouldn’t mind if a PC port turns out to be the mystery game on Atlus’ Steam page.

Whatever this title turns out to be, it’s just one of the upcoming projects Atlus has in the works. These include a brand new action-RPG codenamed Project Re Fantasy and a Switch port of the 2020 sleeper hit 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. As for whether any of these will be revealed at The Game Awards, fans will be able to find out when the event premieres tonight at 5:00 PM PST.
