Astro Bot has certainly grown from being the loveable little character that showed players how the PS5's latest controller tech worked to a potential platformer giant, with the 2024 title stealing the hearts of many and becoming a serious contender for Game of the Year. The platformer pays homage to PlayStation's rich 30-year history, with a number of delightful cameos from some of the console's biggest and most iconic franchises.
One such franchise, Ape Escape, is the focal point of Astro Bot's Apes on the Loose level, which requires players to catch a number of primates and, for the trophy collectors, an elusive and shiny winged insect. Players who want to find out how to find and catch the Golden Butterfly in Astro Bot can use this guide to help them on their way to earning the game's Net Profit trophy.
Great Games Like Astro Bot
After several smaller games, Astro Bot is finally the fully-fledged game fans have been waiting for, but fans are always going to be wanting more.
How To Find The Golden Butterfly in Astro Bot
In order to earn the Net Profit trophy, players will first need to find the butterfly. This begins with landing on the right planet, so you'll first need to work your way to the Apes On The Loose level of the game. This level is the sixth inclusion of the Gorilla Nebula, meaning you'll encounter it fairly early in the game. The world is themed around classic PlayStation game Ape Escape, and players will don the likeness of the franchise's main character, Spike, along with a net for catching the monkeys in the level.
To find the butterfly, players will need to progress to the large open area with a statue in the middle, that serves as the central point of the level. You will catch one of the Ape bots prior to reaching this area, but the rest of the Bots, except the last one, will be found here. There are a number of butterflies and bugs that you can catch for extra coins, but the Golden Butterfly will be hidden from sight until you disturb it in its hiding place. To find the butterfly, simply interact with (either walk into or strike) the bush to the right of the white and yellow structure with the ladder. This will prompt the butterfly to leave the shrub and begin its attempted escape.
How To Catch The Golden Butterfly
While the Golden Butterfly isn't the most significant challenge in Astro Bot, it can still be tedious to catch if you don't have the right strategy in mind. On foot, the butterfly will pretty much always be ahead of you, unless you find the right way to cut it off. There is, however, a very easy manner to catch the insect that requires use of the environment around Astro.
The simplest way to catch the Golden Butterfly is to grind the railing that circles the center of the park. When grinding, Astro is significantly faster than the butterfly, so catching it will simply be a matter of grinding the rail until you are close, then jumping towards the bug and swinging your net. It may take a couple of attempts, but it's a sure-fire way to add the Net Profit trophy to your collection and move one step closer to the Platinum.
