- Steam achievements may be added to Assassin's Creed Valhalla soon.
- The addition of achievements to Valhalla on Steam hints at the trend of big titles being released on the platform for better sales.
Steam achievements could be coming to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla soon. The original Steam release for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla did not include achievements, but it seems that this may be about to change, which is great news for gamers who only own the game on the popular PC platform.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was originally released in November 2020, and it quickly became one of Ubisoft’s biggest hits ever. While the 12th main entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise largely focused on RPG elements and combat over the series’ classic stealth sections, it was a surprisingly big hit, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was the first Ubisoft game to make $1 billion.
Assassin's Creed Shadows' Dual Protagonists Leave One Odyssey, Valhalla Trait Behind for the Better
While Assassin's Creed Shadows will innovate on past recent titles, it will abandon some less popular aspects from modern entries in the series
Now, it seems that Ubisoft is keen on exploring Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s popularity once more, as a new update indicates that the game is gaining Steam achievements. Valhalla was initially unavailable on Steam, and its 2022 Steam release saw Assassin’s Creed Valhalla launching without achievements. A new update on SteamDB, however, shows that achievements were added to the game on October 7. As the base game currently has 50 achievements/trophies, plus 42 on its DLC, this could be a good change for gamers who love the franchise. At the time of this report, however, the addition of Steam achievements was not officially publicized by Ubisoft.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla Could Be Getting Achievements Soon
While it’s not entirely clear why Ubisoft took this long to add Steam achievements to AC Valhalla, it’s likely that the publisher is focusing on the popular platform once more due to its current financial woes. Big games such as Star Wars Outlaws have underperformed recently, and other major titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows have been delayed to get more polish. There’s also speculation that Tencent and the Guillemot family could be interested in buying out Ubisoft, making the company private once more.
In any case, the push to put more games on Steam seems clear. Last month, Ubisoft finally released Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown on Steam. The title was not originally available on the platform, and despite its favorable reviews, insiders speculated that The Lost Crown may have underperformed in sales. Following this trend, Assassin’s Creed Mirage was also recently announced to be available on Steam soon, with a confirmed release sometime during October. Star Wars Outlaws will get a Steam release on November 21, while the upcoming AC Shadows will be available on the popular PC gaming platform when it’s finally out next year.
