Although Ubisoft just unveiled Assassin's Creed Valhalla a few days ago, many fans are already clamoring to see it in action. Gameplay will be shown for Assassin's Creed Valhalla soon, but even then, with or without it, many just want to have hands on it.
As such, many are looking at various dates as to when the game could release, with there at least being a few hints out in the wild. However, Assassin's Creed Valhalla fans have put together what would be the perfect date for the game to release, as if all the stars in the sky aligned: October 9, Leif Erikson day.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is currently slated to release Holiday 2020, normal nomenclature for a game set to be released near the end of the year. Leif Erikson is obviously a perfect day for the game to release, as it is actually a holiday based on the Norse figure who first set foot in the Americas. It's unlikely that Lief Erikson appears in the game, as his disappearance is dated around 1025, and AC Valhalla takes place during the 9th century. It would still be the perfect date as a Norse-related holiday.
What's better, most video games typically release on either a Tuesday or a Friday. This is true of Assassin's Creed Origins, which released on Friday, October 27, 2017, as well as Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which released October 5, 2018, a Friday. Leif Erikson day (October 9) also falls on a Friday this year, meaning that it's a near-perfect date for Assassin's Creed Valhalla to release as well.
This also coincides with the recent leak (later confirmed by the author) of the Assassin's Creed Valhalla companion novel. It comes out on November 17 by all reports, and its companion game typically releases a month, give or take, before or after it. Since after would push it into late November or December, October 9 best fits into this time frame, even if it a slight stretch. Nonetheless, it would make sense given the holiday and video game coincide so beautifully.
It's also worth mentioning that AC Valhalla releases on the PS5 and Xbox Series X as well. An October release for either console seems doubtful, but at the same time, it's possible that Valhalla first launches on current-gen hardware and can be later played on next-gen hardware. AC Valhalla's Smart Delivery for its Xbox One-Xbox Series X versions have been confirmed, after all.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla releases Holiday 2020 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
