How to Get a Bo Staff in Assassin's Creed Shadows

There are already plenty of weapons for Naoe and Yasuke in Assassin's Creed Shadows, but Naoe can now equip a Bo staff following the release of the Claws of Awaji expansion. The Bo staff is even available as a free base game reward for Assassin's Creed Shadows players without the DLC.

Most of the cool Bo staffs are locked behind a paywall with the Claws of Awaji DLC, but Ubisoft has made the introductory Bo staff quest free for all Assassin's Creed Shadows players so they can get a taste of the weapon's basic abilities. Here's how you can get your first Bo staff in Assassin's Creed Shadows.

How to Get a Bo Staff in Assassin's Creed Shadows

Most Bo staffs can be found on the island of Awaji, the setting of the Claws of Awaji story expansion. You can get a Bo staff in the base game once you've completed the main story, even if you don't own the DLC, however. There's a special quest on the map called "Go With the Bo" that'll reward you with a basic version of the weapon.

This quest is located just outside the Hideout to the southwest. Just head there and meet Junjiro to start studying the way of the Bo. This quest will only appear after you've completed the main story of Assassin's Creed Shadows, which means wrapping up the personal questlines for Naoe, Yasuke, and Junjiro and eliminating all of the main story Shinbakufu and Templar targets. It's a free quest at least, so you don't need to own Claws of Awaji to access it.

If you do own Claws of Awaji, you'll have access to even cooler Bo staffs in the DLC. On the island of Awaji, Bo staffs are included in the regular loot pool alongside the weaponry from the base game. Bo staffs will also start to drop on the mainland once you've progressed far enough in Claws of Awaji, but the best of the bunch are reserved for castles and other POIs on the island.

Also, Bo staffs can only be equipped by Naoe. Yasuke doesn't get any new weapons in Claws of Awaji, so you'll have to make do with his usual gear. Keep an eye out for Bo staffs during the DLC so you can make the most of your Assassin's Creed Shadows Naoe build.
