After players got to meet Basim in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, many did not expect they would get to delve even further into his story. However, Ubisoft seemed to have other plans as it upgraded Assassin's Creed Mirage to a full mainline entry. Now, fans have been able to experience Basim's story during some of his earliest days with the Hidden Ones, and it has mostly been a joy to witness.

Assassin's Creed Mirage has told a coming-of-age story of sorts for Basim, which has let players get a greater insight into his life before he met Eivor. While that has been great to see, since the game is a much smaller experience, it only shows players a tiny glimpse of his full story. That means that Basim has so much untapped story potential, but a trilogy of games following him could fix that.

Basim Has So Many More Stories to Tell

Assassin's Creed Mirage focuses on a small part of Basim's life. In the game, players get to see him rise from a simple street thief to a member of the Hidden Ones under the guidance of Master Roshan. They get to follow him as he learns the way of the Hidden Ones and clear out Baghdad all while he grapples with the increasing influence of Loki. This leads to a fun narrative that further builds out the mythos of Assassin's Creed in exciting new ways and a game that feels like a blast from the past.

AC Mirage's story may be an interesting one, but it is only a small glimpse at Basim's entire journey. There are many years between the ending of Mirage and the start of Valhalla that could make for some fantastic experiences. It was a time filled with conflict, growth, and a lot of adventuring. Even though the future of Assassin's Creed may not include another Basim game right now, it really should.

One of the first stories that Ubisoft could tell would be how Basim and Hytham teamed up for the very first time. At some point, Basim ends up mentoring Hytham in the ways of the Hidden Ones, but players have only seen him as a child in Mirage and an influential figure in Valhalla. This game could explore the early days of their relationship while also showing Basim searching for those who imprisoned him. It could lead to a fascinating story as it would be one of the first times players actually got to play as the master rather than the apprentice.

The third game could show Basim and Hytham's time in Constantinople. They were both dispatched there to stop an assassination plot. However, things quickly got a bit more complicated, as they always do in the Assassin's Creed series. Letting players experience all of this could be a lot of fun. Plus, it was there that they first began striking alliances with Viking Clans, which is a large part of why they are in Valhalla to begin with.

While Ubisoft may not have any confirmed plans for more Basim stories, there is still a lot that it could explore if it wanted to. It would be a fantastic treat for fans of the franchise if they got to follow Basim from his early days to where he winds up in Valhalla. Not only would it let players experience so many new unique adventures but would also be the first time since the Ezio trilogy that an assassin got their own subseries. It may be unlikely to happen, yet it would feel like a major missed opportunity if Mirage was the last time players see him.
