Ubisoft will be releasing a haptic suit to immerse players in the combat experience of their upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The suit was made in partnership with OWO to help bring the story of Basim, the daring thief-turned-assassin, a little further into the real world by letting the player physically feel everything Assassin’s Creed Mirage has to offer.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be a throwback video game, of sorts, as its aim is to abandon many of the RPG elements that have become a staple of the series in recent years in favor of the smaller, more focused action-adventure ambitions of the first game in the series. While Mirage will be missing some key parkour features that have become popular with fans, its gameplay, setting, and even hugely scaled-back playtime will be more in line with the early days of the series.
While Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s ambitions are purposefully scaled back, Ubisoft is still looking forward by partnering with video game peripheral company OWO on an Assassin’s Creed Mirage-themed haptics shirt. After donning the technologically advanced t-shirt, players will feel every punch, stab, wind gust, and fall, along with the creepy-crawly sensation of bugs crawling over the character’s skin. OWO’s website boasts the shirt will allow the player to feel over 30 different physical sensations. It’s like the detailed haptics featured on the PS5 DualSense controller but for the player’s entire torso.
In addition to the long list of sensations OWO’s haptics shirt will provide, the company promises that its Assassin’s Creed Mirage edition shirt will include exclusive sensations that cannot be felt with any other game. OWO has not yet detailed what those exclusive sensations are and how they will represent Mirage's weapons and various combat maneuvers, but its whole suite of sensations will be felt by players regardless of which platform they purchase the OWO haptics shirt and Assassin's Creed Mirage bundle for. The shirt will function with PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be a smaller, more intimate Assassin’s Creed experience than more recent entries in the series. Mirage aims to top out at around 25 to 30 hours of gameplay, standing in stark contrast to the most recent entry in the series, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which clocks in at over 60 hours. Mirage’s map size is rumored to be one of the smallest the series has seen in years.
Assassin's Creed Mirage is set to release on October 12 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
