The next update for Assassin's Creed Mirage will make chromatic aberration an optional visual effect, Ubisoft has confirmed. While the company already vowed to address the fandom's complaints about the Assassin's Creed Mirage chromatic aberration, it only now committed to a concrete time frame for the fix.

Ubisoft confirmed that the next update for Assassin's Creed Mirage is set to address that criticism by adding the previously promised chromatic aberration toggle to the settings menu. What's more, the option will be disabled by default following the release of the upcoming patch, a studio representative revealed on the official Assassin's Creed Discord server. The update itself is planned to roll out around the end of October, as per the same source.

The upcoming patch will be the game's third update since its October 5 launch. The latest such release bumped Assassin's Creed Mirage up to version 1.0.4, but without introducing any notable changes to the game. And though granular graphical settings like chromatic aberration toggles are typically exclusive to PC titles, Ubisoft already confirmed that the incoming fix will be rolled out to all of the game's platforms.

This also makes it likely that chromatic aberration will be disabled by default in the iOS version of Assassin's Creed Mirage. The first mainline franchise entry for mobile devices was officially announced at Apple's September product event that saw the Cupertino-based tech giant unveil the iPhone 15 lineup. Ubisoft said that Mirage will be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max—which use Apple's latest A17 Pro system-on-chip—in the first half of 2024.

Assassin's Creed games historically either avoided extensive use of chromatic aberration or offered a way to disable such effects at launch. Given how quickly Ubisoft Bordeaux responded to the criticism aimed at the color fringing in Mirage, the lack of the chromatic aberration toggle in the day-one version of the game was possibly just an oversight.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. An iPhone 15 Pro port is releasing in the first half of 2024.
