Assassin’s Creed fans have been treated to a new game tease after a leaker shared an interesting detail with the community, and most are certain it ties into those Black Flag rumors. Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series has been going strong since 2007, and the IP recently celebrated the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, featuring dual protagonists Yasuke and Naoe. Furthermore, the series still has a few unreleased titles in the pipeline, including Assassin’s Creed Jade for Android and iOS devices, and Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe, which will revolve around witch hunts and the paranormal.
One beloved entry in the franchise, however, is Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, and a remake has been whispered around the gaming community for a while. Released in 2013, the action-adventure title follows a Welsh pirate who’s on the hunt for the mysterious Observatory location. Protagonist Edward’s voice actor previously hinted at an Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake, but the professional was tight-lipped on details.
More Evidence of an Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag Remake Appears Online
Even more evidence pointing to an Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake surfaces online, courtesy of some publicly available data.
Posted on Twitter, reliable leaker PlayStationSize shared different PPSA codes for Assassin’s Creed predecessors Valhalla, Mirage, and Shadows, and noted a new code had appeared with a similar sequence, suggesting a new game was on the way. Fans’ minds immediately went to the touted Black Flag remake, noting that it couldn’t be Hexe yet, nor could it be a DLC, as it wouldn’t have a standalone code, nor could it be a code for Jade because it’s not coming to PlayStation. Earlier in the month, fans noticed Black Flag remake features leaked online when Ubisoft was making changes to the Steam page, which made the rumor mill spin increasingly faster.
Assassin's Creed New Game Leak Teases Black Flag Remake
Fans have also guessed that the leak could be referring to Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows DLC, which is expected to drop sometime this year. During an earnings call, Ubisoft narrowed down Shadows’ Claws of Awaji expansion release date, which could fall in the same window as the new game leak. One user on Twitter noted that the PS Store considers DLC content to be new titles, which could explain the code that was used in the leak.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows players have a big new feature to become acquainted with in the interim, which will be included within the Title Update 1.0.7 dropping on July 29. New Game+ is a popular addition that usually graces games post-launch, and offers fans the chance to experience the content again while keeping the loot and certain progressions achieved after completing the story for the first time.
