Twitch streamer Asmongold is defending his notorious lifestyle, claiming that he simply wants to live his life as a normal American. The streamer's statement has raised some eyebrows, even among some of his regular Twitch viewers, given the conditions Asmongold is known to live in and stream from.

Asmongold is an extremely popular streamer, having gained the top spot on Twitch in 2025 and generally being a worldwide streaming leader. Viewers tune in for everything from gaming to listening to Asmongold's opinions on current events, but one of the things he's also known for is regularly streaming in an extremely messy room. In the past, this has led some to wonder why he doesn't simply hire someone to come in and fix it, considering that he's grown quite wealthy from streaming. Now, he's made a statement that explains that it's an intentional choice.

Now, Asmongold has gone on the defensive regarding the way that he lives after streamers called him out for his living conditions. It's part of a small feud between streamers, with Asmongold previously criticizing QTCinderella for her stance on recent US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity, which streamer Denims then responded to with an image of Asmongold's room, saying, "guy who lives like this here tells us which people are out of touch." Asmongold responded on-stream in turn, firing back at the two streamers by saying he lives life like a normal person, and complained that the others are "living pampered lives of luxury" and hire people to come to their home to clean and deliver food. Meanwhile, Asmongold claims, he lives life like a normal American despite having made a lot of money, saying he has cleaned his room when he wants it cleaned, and that streamers like QTCinderella and Denims "live like celebrities" while he "lives his life the same way as everybody else does."

Asmongold Gains Mixed Response to Defensive Statement

As one might expect, Asmongold's statement has drawn a lot of opinions on the internet, though they're not all in agreement. Some have supported the streamer, saying he can live however he likes, with some saying they care more about his content than his living situation. They're clearly not alone, as Asmongold has had a ton of success on the platforms he's on. Even when Asmongold's comments created enough backlash that he ended up stepping away from One True King, his viewership has remained extremely high.

However, others have pointed to the Asmongold's past behavior as problematic, and argue that it has nothing to do with being an American or even a "normal guy." For example, users discussed his notorious dead rat alarm clock, where Asmongold at one point said he had found a dead rat in his room and allowed it to stay there, as the sun striking the rat in the morning would wake him up from the growing stench of its decomposition. Others have pointed to things he's said or done in the past as being anything but normal, like touching his bleeding gums and then wiping off the blood onto the walls, not showering for three months and lamenting he ended his "evolution" by returning to regular hygiene habits, or when Asmongold revealed that he hadn't done laundry for six years and instead regularly purchased new garments and stuffed his garage with the dirty ones.

Asmongold's living conditions are certainly controversial, but it's part of what sticks out about his streams, and likely draws in viewers who might not have checked out what he does. From there, some may then find that they like what he has to say and streams about, becoming regulars. Others may simply keep viewing in because they're interested in the spectacle surrounding him. In any case, he seems content, and his viewers keep tuning in.
