The Last of Us and Critical Role star Ashley Johnson recently filed a restraining order against her former boyfriend. This development came after a string of abuse, threats, and extortion attempts towards The Last Of Us star and her family after the two separated.

Foster and Johnson were in a long-term relationship that began in 2012. The two lived together for some time and even got engaged in 2018, sharing the news on Instagram, Critical Role live streams, and other social media outlets.

However, it seems their relationship was not as idyllic as fans were led to believe. After “many acts of terror” and a history of verbal abuse, Johnson broke things off with Foster in March after allegedly attempting to do so for over two years. Afterward, Foster became even more violent and dangerous. According to Johnson, Foster’s frequent use of narcotics only stoked his unhinged behavior. This eventually led to Johnson fleeing her home and filing an emergency restraining order on May 15.

In the order, Johnson stated Foster was “close to the edge, has the ability to murder, and will cause harm not only to me but to [my family].” Foster allegedly locked Johnson out of the internet and all of her devices and cameras, causing her and her loved ones to fear for her life. Were that not enough, Foster attempted to extort $150,000 from The Last Of Us actress shortly after their breakup. The restraining order, which extends to Johnson’s mother, sister, and two nephews, is expected to have a hearing on June 9.

Johnson is perhaps most well-known for her role as Ellie from The Last of Us and her cameo as Ellie’s mother in its recent TV show, but she also starred in Blindspot as Patterson and Teen Titans as Terra. She is also featured on the main cast of the Dungeons and Dragons actual play group Critical Role and is the president of the Critical Role Foundation.

Foster was also previously involved with Critical Role. He hosted multiple Critical Role talk shows, including Talks Machina and Between the Sheets, participated in several one-shots, and ran the Undeadwood miniseries. Foster left Critical Role in 2021 to work on his career as a writer, musician, and streamer.

Critical Role has yet to make an official statement on the Foster situation, but its community certainly has. Thousands of Critical Role and The Last of Us fans have come together in support of the actress in this difficult time. Hopefully, the restraining order will be fully approved so Johnson and her family can live in peace.
