While many Pokemon GO players are indubitably ready to tackle Bagon Community Day, it appears there could be an even more exciting event coming relatively soon. It's worth mentioning that Niantic has not confirmed this itself, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. But it appears that Niantic's mobile ARG will be receiving Armored Mewtwo - or slightly less likely, Mega Mewtwo X and Y - potentially in promotion of Pokemon Sword and Shield.

This information comes courtesy of the renown Pokemon GO leaker, Chrales, who has been known for his accuracy. In a recent data mine, it appears Chrales has discovered code detailing the addition of Pokemon Sword and Shield's oft-rumored Armored Mewtwo. This code lists MEWTWO_A=133, MEWTWO_A_INTRO=134, and MEWTWO_NORMAL=135. Presumably, the A in the coding stands for Armored, and this addition wouldn't be unheard of (one form may not have been added yet).

Meltan, for example, appeared in Pokemon GO to promote the next generation of core Pokemon RPGs, so something similar could happen for Armored Mewtwo. In fact, Chrales had even previously listed a quest to catch Aerodactyl that was seemingly tied to an unknown Special Research, so we wouldn't rule out the possibility of an Armored Mewtwo Special Research quest that coincides with the Fall 2019 release of Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Alternatively, this could suggest the introduction of Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y. This isn't entirely out of the question, because even though these forms were first introduced in Gen 6, Pokemon GO has already introduced the Gen-7 Alolan forms. This could mean that adding alternative forms will not fit the generational release mode established thus far. However, this seems less likely than Armored Mewtwo because of the "A" and the lack of indication of two unique forms.

Nevertheless, it's up to Pokemon GO to reveal more about this coding, which it likely will whenever it feels ready. Until it's Armored Mewtwo's day in the sun (or whatever this data suggests), Giratina Origin Forme is being featured as a tier 5 raid boss and Legendary Lunch Hour-featured Pokemon.

Pokemon GO is out now for Android and iOS devices.
