Tangtang was teased as a future character in the 1.0 livestream, but all we know about her right now is what she looks like, and that she'll play an important part in the next two updates after launch. It's also likely that Tangtang will use a Handcannon weapon, as that's what she's using in promotional materials.
If you're a beta player and wondering where Fjall is, well, so are we. He initially debuted in the game's first beta as a 5-star Defender, but has been missing ever since. It's possible he might be released in a future update, but for now, Fjall remains absent from the character lineup.
How to Get Characters in Arknights Endfield
You get characters in Arknights Endfield by:
- Pulling on banners
- Progressing the main story
- Buying a character's Employment Contract from the Bond Quota Exchange
- Taking part in events
Banners
The main way you get characters in Arknights: Endfield is by using your Permit currency in the "Headhunting" menu, which is what the game calls its gacha banners. Permits (and the currency Oroberyl used to buy Permits) are dished out for free for simply playing the game, but you can also buy and convert the premium currency, Origeometry, into Permits.
As with most gacha games, there is a permanent banner called "Basic Headhunting" that you use your Basic HH Permits to pull on, and there is a limited-time banner where you use Chartered HH Permits to pull for the character currently featured. The beginner's banner "New Horizons Headhunting" is also available up to 40 pulls, and you are guaranteed to get either Ardelia, Ember, Last Rite, Lifeng, or Pogranichnik by the end of those 40 pulls.
Main Story
You unlock these characters for free by progressing with the main story of Arknights Endfield:
- Perlica
- Chen Qianyu
- Wulfgard
Bond Quota Exchange
This part of the store lets you use you the Bond Quota currency you get from pulling on banners to buy a character's Employment Contract and add them to your lineup. What character is available rotates every few weeks, so make sure to check back often, as you can also use these Employment Contracts to upgrade a character if you already have them.
Events
These have only been login and pre-registration events so far, but it's likely that you might have to work a little harder to get future free characters, if Arknights: Endfield follows in the footsteps of most other gachas and continues to dish out free characters.
At launch, you can get Snowshine for free by claiming the pre-registration milestone rewards in your mail, and Ardelia for free by logging in for three days.
