Summary

  • Arc Raiders' successful second technical test has left players eager for more with its unique sci-fi setting and immersive atmosphere.
  • Despite initial skepticism, Arc Raiders is shaping up well as an extraction shooter with challenging activities like Night Raids featuring a lethal boss.
  • Stats released for the Second Test reveal that The Queen is extremely lethal, killing 17,000 players and only being defeated 58 times after 4 million rounds played.

Arc Raiders has been enjoying a positive second Technical Test session and, to celebrate, Embark Studios has released a new infographic with plenty of interesting reveals. Even though Embark is a newer studio, it has seemingly found its stride with the unique multiplayer shooter The Finals, as well as the upcoming extraction shooter known as Arc Raiders.

Following the delay of Arc Raiders back in 2022, there has been plenty of skepticism surrounding the game. Many fans weren't keen on Embark's genre shift from being a PvE looter-shooter style game and instead turning Arc Raiders into an extraction shooter. Entering a saturated and, at times, difficult genre to break into, Arc Raiders seemed to have its work cut out for it, though to the surprise of many, the game now appears to be on the right track after a very successful and positive second technical test.

ARC Raiders is Shaping Up to Be One of the More Exciting Upcoming Extraction Shooters [Hands-On Preview]

A recent hands-on preview event for Embark Studios' ARC Raiders cemented it as a game that extraction shooter fans will want to keep an eye on.

Following the launch of the second technical test for Arc Raiders on April 30, the session has finally come to a close and seemingly left players wanting more. Thanks to the unique retro-futuristic sci-fi setting and immersive atmosphere, Arc Raiders has seemingly managed to carve out its own space within the genre. It's clear that players enjoyed the experience as developer Embark Studios revealed an infographic with all sorts of stats during the test, including 1 player who managed to upgrade Scrappy to max level and that, collectively, over 7 million enemies were destroyed.

Arc Raiders Boss Is Proving Lethal Against Players

One of the more surprising stats revealed by the Patrick Söderlund led Embark Studios has to do with a boss machine known as The Queen. Added as part of the challenging activities known as Night Raids, the Queen is a spider-like behemoth, offering players high-tier loot should they overcome the machine. However, after 4 million rounds have been played over 1.7 million hours, The Queen has only been defeated 58 times, while killing over 17,000 players who attempted to battle it. The Queen is lethal for those who are not prepared, and clearly, still very deadly for those who are.

The technical test for Arc Raiders comes at an interesting time, arriving during a closed alpha testing period for Marathon, Bungie's reimagined take on its classic franchise. Unlike Arc Raiders, Marathon has seen more of a mixed reaction from fans, many of whom remain disappointed that the series has been turned into an extraction shooter. However, Bungie has been quick to note that this version of Marathon is an earlier build, and it is using feedback to continue to tweak the experience before it launches in September.
