The window for ARC Raiders' second Expedition is fast approaching, and players interested in embarking on this journey out of Speranza will want to start preparing their character as soon as possible. ARC Raiders' Expedition mechanic acts as a type of prestige system, allowing players who may have reached the game's max level of 75 or just want to reset their character the chance to wipe the slate clean and gain special rewards in the process. While Expeditions may not be for every ARC Raiders player, those who missed their chance to embark on the first one back in December won't want to miss out on this second Expedition.

Starting on February 25, ARC Raiders players can begin preparing for the second expedition, which will depart a days later on March 1. In order to become eligible to send their character on this second Expedition, ARC Raiders players will need to collect a series of specific items to complete each phase of the Expedition Project. Before setting out on the Expedition, ARC Raiders players will also want to increase the total value of their stash in order to earn the permanent skill point unlocks rewards for meeting the stash value threshold.

Reduced Stash Value Requirements for ARC Raiders' Second Expedition

arc raiders expedition changes

In response to feedback from ARC Raiders' first Expedition, Embark has revealed that it is lowering the stash value threshold for earning permanent skill points during an Expedition to 3 million Coins (600k per skill point). Players who reach that 3 million Coin threshold will earn 5 permanent skill points on the new character after the Expedition departs. While this still sounds like a hefty price for ARC Raiders players to work towards, it is lowered from 5 million Coins (1 million per skill point), making achieving this goal much more doable for players who may have been just shy of that total before the previous Expedition.

ARC Raiders' Catch Up Mechanic

The biggest reason ARC Raiders players who missed out on the first Expedition will want to participate in the second is due to the Catch Up mechanic Embark is introducing for the second Expedition. Players who weren't able to amass enough stash value before Expedition 1 departed have the chance to earn the skill points they missed out on this time around. For each additional 300k Coins they add to their stash value, they can earn one of the previous 5 skill points dealt out during the last Expedition. It may be somewhat of a challenge to earn 3 million Coins in stash value for the Expedition 2 skill points, and the additional 1.5 million to unlock all 5 Catch Up skill points, but anyone dedicated to the cause can essentially gain all the benefits of the first Expedition even if they missed out on it.

Now is the Best Time for ARC Raiders Players to Go on an Expedition

The generous Catch Up mechanic is a massive win for ARC Raiders players who missed their chance or opted not to embark on the first Expedition. The nature of the ARC Raiders Expedition system makes it feel like players who don't participate will be at a disadvantage compared to players who do, since adding even a few more permanent skill points can drastically change an ARC Raiders build. Now, with the introduction of the Catch Up mechanic, players won't have to worry so much about being left behind if they missed the first Expedition.

Even if players who depart on an Expedition for the first time during this coming window won't have the same consecutive buffs as those who will be leaving for the second time, taking the leap and wiping their ARC Raiders character during this Expedition is still a worthwhile endeavor. The first-time buffs offered for an Expedition shouldn't be discounted, and help establish the player for future Expedition rewards. Plus, the unique Expedition cosmetics are a nice bonus that seem likely to evolve as the player departs on more Expeditions going forward.
